Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by vei on Nov 6, 2015 15:53:35 GMT 1, Can you imagine a flipper threatening Laz? 'I WANT MY PROFIT!! I DEMAND MY PROFIT!!! SEE YOU IN COURT!!!!' ............ 'When's the next Harrington print out?'
That made me snort milk out of my nose.

Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by scarylarry on Nov 6, 2015 15:59:59 GMT 1, No, I donยดt. Sadly didnยดt even get one. I just read the upper posts about this issue. I understand that flippers are hated and morally they might be right, but legally, as soon as I buy something, neither the gallery nor the artist can decide what I am going to do with it. Keep, Sell, Burn, Walk on it, whatever I like. You think Laz don't know there own rules of contract? It is all about the reason they give on why an order is canceled. They might not even give you a reason.. but the most used one is "sorry we oversold"
Exactly that's all they have to say

The E-Mail with the order confirmation makes the purchase contract valid (check Lazarides Terms & Conditions point 3.6 - they say it themselves: ย "3.6 If we accept your order we will confirm our acceptance by sending you a separate confirmation email ("Order Confirmation"). The Contract between us will only be formed when we send you the Order Confirmation." ย ย ), and suspicions of possible eBay resells are no reason at all to cancel the purchase contract by seller side. Friend of mine had the same case with another gallery, they had to pay a compensation and hand him the ordered print.ย I think they will get some legal trouble if the go for that.
That's what I thought too. The moment the buyer makes payment and gets a confirmation, the contract is formed. The buyer has every right to do anything with the print from that point onwards isn't it?

Also if an image used in an eBay listing is from a website highly likely to be copyrighted.

www.lazinc.com/website-terms#website-trading-terms
"3.4 We may reject any orders at our discretion and without explanation. Acceptance and fulfilment of orders will be subject to availability. You acknowledge and accept that some Artwork is unique or there may be limited availability. We will not be liable to you if the Artwork that you wish to order is unavailable for any reason."
they can and will cancel any orders that they want to, you agreed to the above terms when placing an order.
it's not a moral issue, nor is it a legal issue, that they can cancel or reject any orders. it's a business decision that they can exercise and they are choosing to do so.
next time maybe you will actually wait to have the print in your possession before trying to resell it. also, last i checked, it's against ebay's rules to sell something you don't actually have, therefore your eBay listing was most likely against their selling terms.

Yeah, I believe Shepard Fairey gets eBay to pull listings that have his stock images on them.

I like this print because it seems timeless. You know it's good when it can go in my home (Contemporary) and even look good in my parents (Antiques). Really hits on multiple levels. I think the only one who doesn't like them is my girlfriend haha. She's not going to be thrilled when it's the new focal point of the bedroom

Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by hackenbush on Nov 7, 2015 17:20:11 GMT 1, I initially thought that I would love one of these prints. But when I got the pre sale email I thought long and hard about it and if I still liked it as much. I came to the conclusion that I could happily live without it. I already have a few large prints on my wall, and while I live in a reasonable sized house another large print would not necessarily benefit me or the walls. More importantly I think the image is something that I would quickly tire of. They are two dark and old fashioned, and although I can appreciate the skill involved I like to spend time looking at the art on my walls and why they mean so much to me that I want to look at them every day. Despite the cleverness of these pieces I wouldn't get the pleasure, beauty or interest that I get from my other art work. My personal opinion is that in the long run most people who missed out on buying these prints at source will not as disappointed as they are now. Unless you were buying as a possible investment.

Miaz Brothers ๐ฎ๐น Portrait Painters โข Roberto & Renato Miaz, by kendo on Nov 7, 2015 17:41:13 GMT 1, Kendo, they're probably flooded with calls at the moment. I've always had excellent customer service at LAZ, never an issue. I second this. The customer service at Laz is second to none. I agree, they usually are and have been in the past but I guess if you don't buy anything they're not really interested!
I had one in my basket and I couldn't check-out! I rang their customer support line a couple of times and finally left a voice mail. Aware that it was time sensitive I also sent an email to their support describing the issue. It was definitely in my basket as when the time ran out, it emptied and was quickly snapped up by someone more fortunate!
On a major release you would think that their dedicated 'Lazarides Editions customer support' would be available to help with any issues. I have yet to receive any response!

Have to agree about the size - Iโm not generally a fan of massive prints. Real shame as I love the Miaz Bros and their Laz show was one of the best for me in 2015 - something around 50x70 like the Cyclops/Lucas Price portraits would have been ideal for me. Iโm going to resort to sticking a couple of Laz showcards in some antique frames.
