Great price. Is it me or do you get worried by tom tom provenance nowadays? If he said he had POW provenance I would have pulled the trigger.

surprised this hasn't been snapped up yet. it seems to me that people are often reluctant to buy buy-it-now items because the mentality is that by their very nature they must be overpriced. but its a good price and i reckon it might sell for more if it was on a no reserve auction.

I DO NOT trust any sellers saying they have Artrepublic/TomTom prov. I bought a print last year where the seller provided a Artrepublic invoice...turned out to be a fake print.

Any one got pics of these fake prints ?

I have a letter from Ben at POW for my fake print, stating why it is fake, etc. It was a love rat. No pics. It was very difficult to tell. It had a REALLY GOOD POW stamp, same brand of paper. the thing that gave it away was a watermark.

im going to do my own authentication from now on..

Now that's what I call a certificate. Might even frame one next to my next PE print!

the way i look at it is if you were spending thousands on a car you'd go and get it checked out before you parted with your hard earned cash. and if you don't know anything about cars (or banksy prints) you'd bring a mate who did. then you won't get ripped off.
the only other option is to pay a premium and buy your car from a franchised dealer (or buy your print from a respected gallery like andipa).

Sold now for £1400 Best Offer. Seller johnnyrubadub also sold a Turf War not long ago and was a member of this forum. Listed as guest now so either banned or deleted his own account.

if you bring it in to POW or post it to them they will confirm if its genuine or not.
it would help if you had the name of the original owner but you dont have anything to worry about cos people werent making fakes 2 years ago since they werent worth enough back then to make it worthwhile.

I purchased my pride and joy from Tom Tom back in 2004, (no receipt mind - well, a credit card receipt thats faded so much its illegible) But I've checked with POW - and its registered to Tom Tom and I have a credit card statement showing the purchase. I'm happy the provenance is pretty much watertight.

So, each of these prints need to be judged individually, I don't think the fact a print has Tom Tom receipts means its dodgy in any way - but, you should trust your instincts, check that the print number is registered to who it should be with POW, is there corroborating evidence like credit card statements etc etc....

At the end of the day - if your spending the sort of cash one of the earlier prints fetches, I feel the suggestion that the seller meets you to exchange at POW is a bloody good one.

If it feels dodgy - it probably is.

Of course - I admit, I have a vested interest - but as a lot of the early prints were sold through Tom Tom etc, people have to be realistic.

I'm in the process of buying a print from here. The seller says he is the original owner and it was bought from POW.
What Should I be checking? Do I get the print number and call POW to confirm owner? (Are they ok with that?)
And what's to stop that person selling lots of the same print and same number? Apart from POW wondering why they are confirming the owner 300 times this month on the same print?
