Nick Smith π¬π§ Pixelated Art β’ Colour Swatches β’ New Print, by That Print Guy on Apr 18, 2019 16:14:06 GMT 1, Yup. And for every response like that I want to let other people know that there's another point of view and that other people that have it. The flip guilting is thinly veiled, what it really means is "sell it to me at cost so I can sell it for more later". I'm here on the same forum as you and that's my opinion.

I for one have never criticised anyone for flipping with the intention of buying the piece from someone at cost. That would be a fools errand, as flippers simply wonβt. Most on here that are critical of flipping usually suggest to the flipper that they take the piece to eBay rather than rubbing the flip in the noses of those that missed out. Hardly the act of someone who wants to buy for cost from the same seller. The motivation for most, I suspect, is actually a dislike of the parasitical nature of flipping.

I think you should just ignore the comments and advertise it at the price you want. It will either sell, or not, or someone will offer privately.,Itβs difficult to have a reasoned conversation with people who criticise from the anonymity of a keyboard, and feel itβs their right to do so.
Despite the anti-flipping comments that seem to appear on almost every recent sale thread, most, but not all, of the people on the forum whoβve offered to sell me art have done so at a greatly inflated price over the release price. Ironically all of it had also been stored flat and never hung. Canβt help but thinking those people have also deprived others who may have wanted the art when it was released.

I would have been happier if you had stood your ground as well. Contrary to what the loudest voices want you to guilt you into believing, one function of this forum is for buying and selling - it's part of the grander secondary market. It's not a special place where people hook each other up for being "great guys on an art forum". If you have real friends that take care of you in real life if you miss a drop because you share a common interest neither party will be posting about it on a forum. the market demands conformity, no one here is selling a banksy at cost, there's no reason you should be an outlier when attempting to move a recent piece. I talk in here a lot about this topic because it's near and dear to me, it's a valid conversation on a site about art... Money always has a place in the discussion regardless of what others would want you to believe. These are luxury goods and anyone playing this game has the cash to spare.

You cannot see the difference between selling a piece that has organically increased in value over years and a a sneaker flipper trying his hand and bots at art dealing? You think that flippers provide some function like the Remora fish fish of the art world and that without them art wouldnβt increase in value. You're wrong, all they do is ensure all fans donβt get them at cost and contrary to your belief, not everyone has the cash to spare. You can maintain that flippers should be allowed profit in peace but that ainβt going to happen. Itβs a forum, get a thicker skin or go to Ebay. To stay silent would be to promote it.

Nick Smith π¬π§ Pixelated Art β’ Colour Swatches β’ New Print, by That Print Guy on Apr 20, 2019 11:03:49 GMT 1, There is no difference when it comes to selling a piece. Your side makes it a moral issue, my viewpoint does not. Plenty of collectors are happy to buy on the secondary market as evidenced by how healthy it is. They're just not here browbeating and guilting others into thinking what they have to sell should be done at a discount because of the venue. They're happily making purchases at market value and enjoying art as a wall decoration that's also an investment... Just like you but without the internet bullying. Find me a gallery that sells something previously sold out at cost rather than the secondary market rate, I'm looking for a banksy. Also I could easily say the same to you about the thicker skin

It took me a while to even realise what the point of it was and when I got it the joke was pretty weak. Given the size it's weird that it's Β£55 more than the much larger, and much much better, recent Napoleon print.

And another in-depth "this is sh!te" addition by PosterBob. I'll give you one thing...you are consistent for going on threads to both dislike the style and the cost.
I bet if George Condo released a print for $1, PosterBob's two cents would be "garbage. and overpriced". I am waiting for a print release when PB buys every one available and then posts how they are for sale at 10x the price and that they are gorgeous and can't beat the price.
