Kaws Snoopy Prints, by msobel3 on Nov 29, 2015 20:06:12 GMT 1, Kaws has been working with snoopy and the peanuts for quite some time now. It definitely does not have to do with the release of the movie.

Easier to market IMO a weak print release.

Kaws Snoopy Prints, by Shoot Again on Nov 30, 2015 10:34:46 GMT 1, These still have that distinctive look but seem to lack inspiration. Many of the canvas works or simply snoopy lately. Maybe institutional investors are lapping it up and he is in the next stratosphere. Maybe I am just jealous because they have become too expensive Quite an honest statement ;-)

Kaws Snoopy Prints, by Shoot Again on Nov 30, 2015 10:44:59 GMT 1, Reading all the comments here, it certainly looks like there no love at all here for this set (seems like I'm gonna be the only buyer ), whether it's because of its aesthetic or its (expensive) pricing. Is this the end of KAWS being part of the Urban Art World and only just appealing to the Contemporary Art Market from here on ?

Interesting question shoot. I think probably not. For me, it was not about the price. His work is out of my reach whether at this price or a fraction of it. I think most people recognise his position now in the art world and accept that as a result his work will command high prices. For me, my distaste for these prints is purely aesthetic. I just think they look bad! But as we have often said, art is so subjective. One mans masterpiece is another mans loo paper.

Kaws Snoopy Prints, by BKBOI on Nov 30, 2015 12:41:08 GMT 1, might be right but there is a reason why this is being released pretty close to the Peanuts movie. Easier to market IMO a weak print release. That sounds a tad ridiculous to me. The Peanuts market and the Kaws market are worlds apart and the release of a Peanuts movie isn't going to entice Joe Schmoe to spend in excess of $30,000 on three art prints. What about the Family Guy market? I am pretty sure this guy has no idea where these images were appropriated.

Just float them in a white frame like 99% of all the KAWS prints of late have been framed. For real though, all my favorite frame ups I've seen lately are cats who did something other than white frame/float mount. Definitely want to see how you do them up should you score.

Kaws Snoopy Prints, by msobel3 on Nov 30, 2015 20:19:53 GMT 1, I have a question direct towards those who like Kaws but do not like this set. Just out of curiosity... What paintings of Kaws are your favorites? He's gone through various periods and styles of painting from his ad disruptions, the kimpsons and kurfs, his Kawsbob stuff, the PAFA show, his shaped canvas pieces at Perrotin two years ago and now his more abstract line-style peanuts stuff... of those choices (or feel free to add something else) which style is your favorite? For me, I have always been a big fan of Kaws use of color however I prefer his pieces that are a bit more abstract rather than his Kawsbob pieces which are so straight forward... So I love the PAFA pieces and I also loved what he did at Perrotin/Mary Boone. To me, this print set is the perfect blend of his abstract lines and Peanuts mixed with great usage of color and iconic imagery. I love to see Kaws use a recognizable figure to create a shaped canvas and then fill it in an abstract and colorful way. To me that is exactly what this print accomplished. Shoot Again you are not the only one that likes these... but it seems you and I are the only two haha.
