Donald Trump, by Deleted on Nov 21, 2016 12:15:37 GMT 1, I am glad Trump won.
The Democrats only have themselves to blame for deciding to have Hillary as the candidate who is unelectable and using the hype of "first woman president".
Jill Stein should have got more media exposure and more support. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jill_Stein
Clinton came across as just another puppet of foreign interests, in it for the money and it would be great to see their reactions when Hillary told them something like, sorry I cannot repay all those bribes I mean donations when I am president cos some fat orange bloke got elected.
CNN definately doing all it could against Trump to damage him being elected including made up polls it looked like and a programming campaign to turn people away from Trump.
Definately the first time I have ever witnessed a mass programming campaign by a major news organisation on TV working to influence an election.
Hillary did not look fit to be President anyway, as in physically fit.
Plus Clinton looks like she has two faces regarding racism.

Donald Trump, by cornholio on Nov 21, 2016 21:53:42 GMT 1, So a tiny 0.00000 whatever of a billion odd from a religion are involved in terrorism (not to mention terrorism by other groups which goes unreported), validates your view or that of others in that 'its all their fault'? Again you are projecting and putting words into my mouth. You've developed a narrative and assigned these ideals to me even though I've said nothing of the sort. I never blamed anyone for the deaths at say the bataclan or elsewhere. I said most have no interest in this sort of thing. But some do. And there are HUGE odds that more people will die in similar attacks. Even if the odds are .001% that it will happen to you or I - so what. Tell me what are you going to do for the mother and father who lost a child in the next attack or for the child who loses a parent? You'll do nothing for them of course. And so here we are, so how do we sort out this problem that clearly exists? Well I don't know because unfortunately you can't even discuss it with reactionaries like you or the expletives and baseless accusation start flying.
That's the most gross, sweeping statement I've read here and makes you look an ignorant f**kingtosser. Thanks. Yup. What else should I expect from someone like you? Again and again like I've said before. It's impossible to even broach a topic like this with people like you or you denigrate the opposing opinion and person instead of discussing the topic. You are the same exact thing as a right wing reactionary idiot tea bag. Just on the other side of the fence.

Donald Trump, by cornholio on Nov 30, 2016 6:08:14 GMT 1, Err what? You're actually trying to validate what Trump said? And then the whole Muslims thing is just woah. Just goes to show you that no matter how heinous, vile, despicable the act, there will always be people who are completely OK with it. The whole muslim thing is whoa? You see your attitude and the PC fascism you spew is one of a few reasons I've parted ways with the Democratic party. I'm not a Trump supporter, I'm a "progressive" democrat hater. Really Bill Maher can say it better than me, you might want to listen.
"It's not my fault that the part of the world that is most against liberal principals is the muslim part of the world..." - Bill Maher
"Political correctness is America's newest form of intolerance and it's especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance..." - George Carlin
The whole political correctness and calling others racist because they disagree with you or because they are not politically correct is nothing different from fascism itself. Democrats want to just blame other people's hate and racism on why they lost. They're incapable of seeing the hate they project as well and incapable of having a balanced a perspective - something many right wingers are incapable of as well.
Why did she lose? Every one of the swing states that Hillary lost are very blue collar, working class states. The kind of people democrats took for granted for decades. But Hillary offered those people nothing, more concerned about a PC agenda than working class people. Trump offered those people something and has actually already delivered. While she ignored their plight. She denigrated them and said they were "mansplaning." Well look who's complaining now. You don't need to be a rocket scientists to understand what happened. Hypocrite democrats and the media that whined for days because Trump suggested he might not respect the results if there were irregularities. Well now they're forcing a recount and creating conspiracy theories about Russian hackers as to why she lost. Still, incapable of accepting responsibility themselves.

Regardless of people's thoughts or opinions it's nice to see when people actually take the time to show others and explain their thought process, rather than just retorting to name calling.
In regard to Bill Maher, I too am against the oppression of any kind of people and whereas I may not agree with everything he says, he makes some valid points about the oppression of people and free speech.
I'd be interested to hear other people's opinions are on what Bill Maher said? Not for any particular reason other than that I like rational debate, conflicting opinions and the reasons behind them.
Edit: oooooooooook, so i just re-read the last few posts outside of the 'latest posts' thread and I saw there was a whole lot of name calling and less constructive posts. So this appears to have been more of an anomaly.
Regardless, I did still find Bill Maher's video interesting and would like to hear other people's opinions on it.

The opponents of political correctness always said they were crusaders against authoritarianism. In fact, anti-PC has paved the way for the populist authoritarianism now spreading everywhere.
With billionaire white nationalists about to enter the white house supported by a growing cast of corporate neo liberalists, racists, homophobes and other sundry bigots, time to be a little less concerned about Muslims maybe.

Donald Trump, by Reader on Nov 30, 2016 15:59:09 GMT 1, I get what he is saying but when Trumps sales pitch was build a wall between Mexico to stop the rapists, to ban Muslims that Is racist, xenophobic. We don't live in the 1800's. It's not ok anymore. What's next banning women from voting. There's no way of going around it, it's to create a separation. Trump's wording was ... let's say less than gracious towards mexicans. To put it mildly. (But keep in mind 30% of latinos voted for him - not what you'd expect right? Maybe find out what those people think to get a more balanced perspective?) 18% actually, the lowest level on record for any presidential candidate.

Donald Trump, by poofer on Dec 1, 2016 4:25:46 GMT 1, Scary to read all this support, understanding, and empathy for Trump. This is a man who bragged about things like sexually assaulting women and his genitalia size. A man who can barely handle the "responsibility" of running a twitter account. A man who is not only a climate denier, but a restrictive demagogue who yearns for the spotlight yet wants complete control of the press. And some of you want him to have the biscuit and the football? The mere thought of him having those two objects near and on him gives me nightmares...
whats worse is is how many things he has already reversed on and he hasn't even taken office. He is beyond irrational and unpredictable. If some of you can take solace and comfort in that, well good on you. Throw me a bone here cause I'm still scared shitless...

The way I see it is that the agenda of the left is actually to divide people not bring them together. Some say funded by the likes of Soros etc.
As for muslims and all the rhetoric spouted by the left, muslim this , muslim that etc etc.
I know plenty of arabs from different countries and not one of them have ever referred to themselves as muslim. The ones I know have no interest in sharia law.
My neighbour is arab and he has questioned me as to whats going on in Britain and why are they accepting all those migrants.
It's not any people from any country that causes concern, it is a persons ideology and cultural values.
It's all very good for luvvies to say no borders and let in everyone and every ones studying to be a doctor.
The fact is the whole point of having visas and passport control is to be able to allow in people who are not a potential threat to others.
Err what? You're actually trying to validate what Trump said? And then the whole Muslims thing is just woah. Just goes to show you that no matter how heinous, vile, despicable the act, there will always be people who are completely OK with it. The whole muslim thing is whoa? You see your attitude and the PC fascism you spew is one of a few reasons I've parted ways with the Democratic party. I'm not a Trump supporter, I'm a "progressive" democrat hater. Really Bill Maher can say it better than me, you might want to listen. "It's not my fault that the part of the world that is most against liberal principals is the muslim part of the world..." - Bill Maher "Political correctness is America's newest form of intolerance and it's especially pernicious because it comes disguised as tolerance..." - George Carlin The whole political correctness and calling others racist because they disagree with you or because they are not politically correct is nothing different from fascism itself. Donald Trump, by Deleted on Dec 1, 2016 22:26:51 GMT 1, Perhaps you should instead go raise your glass to some more dictators? Good comback. Keeping the numbers up. Illiteracy rate Cuba. 0.2% America 21%. There's a very cheap joke in here in asking you if you are part of the 21%, given you wrote 'comback'.
But, you know. If you think Cuba is a prime example of a well run country because everyone is able to read Fidels propaganda, then, well.

Donald Trump, by Daniel Silk on Dec 2, 2016 1:41:38 GMT 1, It's difficult to compare countries, coz cultural, social, religious beliefs and differences mean they all need a particular political system to suit themselves. Europe and USA think every country should be run in the same way, but that very very unrealistic, and in some instances it could be argued some what would be classed as undeveloped countries actually have a better setup.

Donald Trump, by Coach on Dec 2, 2016 10:22:52 GMT 1, So......he's appointed someone called Mad Dog as secretary for defence! Should we be (more) worried? I had thought when I heard the news that that nickname had been discovered by, perhaps, a journalist. But no. I must confess to being slightly shocked to hear Trump actually say "I've appointed Mad Dog"! Jeepers!

Donald Trump, by Coach on Dec 2, 2016 14:26:55 GMT 1, I must admit I had not heard of general mad dog Mattis until today. He has attributed to him some, in my opinion, concerning comments, for someone coming in to government. "It's fun to shoot some people" "The first time you blow someone away is not an insignificant event. That said, there are some assholes in the world that just need to be shot." There are many more. Hmmm

Hmmm Yeah, I was going to mention some of his quotes, but you never really know the context I guess?
But there are quite a few gung-ho ones attributed to him. Which is understandable if he's a product of the military machine.
I dunno? The fact that they're dragging him out of retirement as well. Nobody else capable?
I know there's something to be said for experience, but sometimes you need to look forwards and not backwards.
Oh and Trump's environmental policies will probably lead to the destruction of countless species and lead to hardship and suffering for future generations.
Don't have kids, folks.
Get a dog.

Donald Trump, by cornholio on Dec 20, 2016 4:44:16 GMT 1, That Guardian article is nothing but opinionated partisan drivel. Sorry but liberals aren't the "good guys" fighting the evil conservatives. That's just something liberals like to think to make themselves feel better. Neither side has any moral superiority. Both sides are equally despicable. Both sides are extremely hypocritical. Both sides are equally guilty of fabricating some us against them war to try and "energize their base." Both sides are total ass holes.
The opponents of political correctness always said they were crusaders against authoritarianism. In fact, anti-PC has paved the way for the populist authoritarianism now spreading everywhere. Populism is an ideology typically championed by liberals. Trump's populism is exactly why so many blue collar types voted for him. But when a conservative does it the most liberal try to cast it as "populist authoritarianism" as some kind of bizarro world evil version of populism. This is just fear mongering. Look up the definition of authoritarianism, it's not reality, maybe it will be next year, who knows - although I highly doubt it but when it is let us know. It's easy to toss around words like "fascism" and such. Fascisms by definition, is an ideology that leans right. But the tactics they use are in use by liberals as well, if not more so during the past year. All this nonsense about Trump being Hitler part deux is puke worthy nonsense.
I can only imagine the horror if the roles were reversed and conservatives were violently protesting in the streets, calling for assassination, trying to find obscure loopholes to block the results of a free election and literally threatening electoral members and offering to give them money to vote contrary to the will of their state. I don't know if I've seen any liberal take the high road after the election - maybe Obama is an exception. Clearly their motto "stronger together" must have been a joke. Clearly the people they want to be "together" with is not inclusive - and you could argue the same about the other side too and I'm sure you will. Both sides suck. Both are fixated on some phony narrative in their head that they are the freedom fighters.
With billionaire white nationalists about to enter the white house supported by a growing cast of corporate neo liberalists, racists, homophobes and other sundry bigots, time to be a little less concerned about Muslims maybe. Billionaire white nationalist. Sounds scary huh? If you don't like billionaires, I hope you didn't vote for the candidate who got the support of and donations from many "billionaires." She got much more in donations and dark money that Trump did. I guess Citizens United is only a problem when it benefits Republicans?
But ok, when the scary "evil white nationalist" starts going around with vans and scooping up brown, yellow and pink people off the streets then I'll be worried. Let me know when that starts to happen. But until then, and with a somber seriousness ANOTHER NINE PEOPLE violently killed yesterday because of the current Islamic jihad. Another 50+ injured. Hundreds of people are now mourning a friend or family member or stressed about the health of their loved ones in the hospital. Death and violence are a fact of life. But this was entirely avoidable.
What are you going to do for those people in mourning who lost a family member and those who are forever injured? What are you going to do?

Nothing will change for low income families and low income self employed.
America just like any country is nothing more than a corporation run by executives.
Still I am very glad Obama has gone. He is very smart and likeable but as a president I very much doubt he was any more than a puppet.

All this nonsense about Trump being Hitler partย deux is puke worthy nonsense.ย I can only imagine the horror if the roles were reversed and conservatives were violently protesting in the streets, calling for assassination, trying to find obscure loopholes to blockย the results of a free electionย andย literally threatening electoral members and offering to give them money to vote contrary to the will of their state. Billionaire white nationalist. Sounds scary huh? If you don't like billionaires, I hope you didn't vote for the candidate who got the support of and donations from many "billionaires." She got muchย more in donations and dark money that Trump did. Isn't it fun how leftists never actually respond to solid argumentation but just throw out some random bs slogans like RACIST! WHITE SUPREMACIST! BILLIONAIRE! BLACK LIVES MATTER! I NEED A TRIGGER WARNING IM OFF TO MY SAFE SPACE YOU MANSPLAINING PRIVILIGED WHITE NATIONALIST BILLIONAIRE RACIST REPUBLICAN YADAYADAYADAYADA and then just run off and never respond anymore? If you want to have a good few hours of fun you should look up Milo Yiannopoulos, who is a catholic flamboyant gay guy with a fetish for black dudes, and also a republican and terrific public speaker, who is now touring universities around the USA with his 'the dangerous faggot tour' where he speaks out against PC culture, feminism, leftist hippies and the likes.
Just as an aside, do you use the word leftist as a derogatory one? If so, do you think that left wing people are insulted by being called leftist?
That Guardian article is nothing but opinionated partisan drivel. Just as an aside, do you use the word leftist as a derogatory one? If so, do you think that left wing people are insulted by being called leftist? Gotta admit I had to look up derogatory. But no, given what I understood from the dictionary, unlike leftists who like to call everyone a racist and a supremacist etcetera, I don't often use words in a 'derogatory' way. When I say leftist I simply mean a left wing voter/thinker. So no I don't think you should feel insulted for being called what you simply are.
BTW you should really check out Milo. He's hilarous, provocative, and above all a sublime speaker, whether you agree with his views or not.

I don't feel insulted by it. I am proud to be left wing, as I believe in a caring society, equality, social justice and striving for a fair society. I get the impression that some right wing people are using the term leftist in a disparaging way, without realising that it is far from an insult. If you say that you are not, so be it.
You should perhaps try to avoid generalisations. You refer to what leftists like to do, which is undoubtedly a broad generalisation.
I watched some of that video that you posted. Whilst I generally agree with his conclusions about "safe spaces", particularly in universities, where freedom of speech should be so important, I found most of what he was saying to be quite unpleasant (but would defend his right to say it). But thank you for enlightening me about his work.
