New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by Liverpool ste123 on Dec 9, 2015 21:52:00 GMT 1, It's nice but if the price hasn't increased since November then the indication of selling less than 10, isn't a confidence booster when it comes to buying...
On the other hand I really like it!

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by trasbash on Dec 9, 2015 21:55:50 GMT 1, True. That said it's a brand new gallery with no seo. Spoke to them - very nice people and it seems that they have been set-up by some old White Cube folk.
Seems like no-one actually knew about it.

Why?
Do you only buy/want something that everyone else wants?

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by pippyt75 on Dec 9, 2015 22:48:32 GMT 1, Harland Miller prints are always pretty steep but fuck me they're good in the flesh. Feel like originals and an artist that's gathering proper weight. And no I don't own this. Love it but can't afford it! But good luck to him all the same.

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by Poster Bob on Dec 9, 2015 22:54:44 GMT 1, Well, in terms of sucking shit, the print release info I saw on the 5th of November stated that the initial price was $4,650 and the price would then increase by $800 increments for every 10 sold. We now find ourselves in December and the price is still $4,650.

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by pippyt75 on Dec 9, 2015 23:03:04 GMT 1, Whether it sells or not is kind of academic to me. It's indicative of the entry level price rather than the art per se. Whether that price is too high is fair game for discussion. But fact is there's loads of artists on here that would sell out in seconds but don't hold a candle to someone like Miller. People will still be buying his stuff in 20 years I think. Just my opinion.

No, I buy what I like but at that price point you surely must need a reassurance of at least a break-even return if the time ever came to sell?
Or were you making an observation that I buy into the mass hysteria of trending art? (Which I don't! )

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by pippyt75 on Dec 9, 2015 23:22:41 GMT 1, There's no hysteria with Miller as far as I can tell. His work sells slolwly but well. It just looks the absolute TITS in the flesh. The prints are spectacular and the originals something else. I'll shut up now.

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by treweman on Dec 10, 2015 1:16:49 GMT 1, I haven't seen any Harland Miller print sell quickly, but they ALL sell out. Even more telling, there seems to be a healthy secondary market for his prints. When you charge thousands for a print from source, the first point is to be expected, and the second is admirable.
As for the latest print, I think it looks terrific. But the book title doesn't resonate as much with me as some of the others.

There is a massive misconception on the longstanding value of a print by the speed it sells out. The two are completely unrelated.
Those that have been collecting for a while and didn't jump on the bandwagon will know this.
Take Banksys prints - @ 50gbp a pop they took an age to sell.
More relative to HM prices, on the flip side I remember Micallefs Laz prints selling out in minutes for thousands. Now they are worth a pittance.
Hype lasts minutes. Class is permanent. As with all of HM's prints they take a while to sell but always seem to creep up in value.

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by Matt on Dec 10, 2015 13:17:59 GMT 1, Absolutely love this one But am a bit hesitant due to the whole set-up...
Never heard of these guys before, but who apply tiered pricing, and they are asking to pay for a print that has not been printed, which few people seem to have registered interest since price is still in tier one.
I see a huge risk of paying upfront for a print that will never be printed...
Am I paranoid ?

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by pressman on Dec 10, 2015 18:33:06 GMT 1, Nice one! It will be good to see it framed, although given the size I could understand if it takes a bit of time for you to get it done.

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by Liverpool ste123 on Dec 10, 2015 20:41:15 GMT 1, Was going to buy at the first tiered price then realised that if you sign up to the newsletters you get a generated code for 10% off any first purchase
Had it in my basket, waited & waited - and waited but nothing.
Alas the price went up & now I'm not buying! That's life I guess
Well done to those that managed to get one at the lower price. I don't understand why print houses do tiered pricing but there you go!

New Harland Miller print at Art&culture, by andyroo0312 on Dec 11, 2015 3:44:41 GMT 1, Like the print ,but screw tiered pricing Agree with you there but unfortunately all of Harland Miller,s prints through White Cube,Reflex,Other Criteria are tiered pricing .... So if you want one be quick , the Who Cares Wins is now over ยฃ5k at Reflex and not as nice as this IMO . I love the lay out of this print but the wording does not work as well as "Who Cares" and yes I do own one. I don't like tiered pricing either but who cares when you when you buy on a pre-sale.

That's the great thing about HM - All of his messaging resonates with each person differently. Almost makes it feel personalised. Who Cares Wins is a beautiful print, but the title, doesn't mean anything to me. TBH I understand the play on word of who dares wins, but i don't quite get it.
On a more aesthetic level I also like the natural, less refined, works with white backgrounds. I think they are a little more classic. Again horses for courses.
