The baby prints have slowly decreased after the initial hype of the release If patient will even out further Or if your desperate sell the Banksy and buy the stik as you will have cash left over

Is stik going to enter mainstream pop / art culture in the way banksy has? Doubt it. wrong : there will still have, now, Stik fans and collectors looking for a print or art. Stik has ever produced - sic - a lot of ex of each prints, so they are quite rare. And the man is young and has painting anthology murals, asrjelasr one in Acton per example. Anyway I still don't understand why people are comparing these 2.., Nothing to see.

Stik vs. banksy, by treweman on Dec 10, 2015 3:18:33 GMT 1, There is money, and there is art. Banksy prints are worth significantly more, at current market prices, than Stik prints. No real argument. But that does NOT mean that Banksy's art is better. The problem with the OP's question is the two - money vs. art - are being confused. It would be a bit silly, IMO, to trade a Banksy for a Stik straight up because of the difference in market value. Better to sell the Banksy and buy the Stik you most want (or buy two or three Stik prints). But if I had a choice (and I do), I would rather have a Stik hanging on my wall than a Banksy. Banksy is a damn fine street artist, but I don't think his work translates well to a home setting. And even in terms of street art, there are any number of artists that I like better. BTW, I think the same could be said of Shepard Fairey.

The answer is a resounding no regardless of demand for prints etc. there is literally zero way you can predict the popularity of an art form 10 years down the road. In 2001 zero people would have predicted that Graffiti / street art would be having a major group show at the MOCA in 2011 (Art In The Streets).
There is just as good of a chance of street being super popular in 2025 as is the possiblity of it being dead.

Stik vs. banksy, by minimalistic on Dec 10, 2015 10:09:45 GMT 1, I agree with treweman. I also like Banksy as a street artist but his prints don't do anything for me. The only one I like is 'Stop and Search'. I would purchase a Banksy for investment (if I could predict the market) but to be honest I would rather take the money and get a StiK and a few other prints. At the end of the day there is no right or wrong answer to the OPs question as from an art point of view (leaving money to one side) it's a matter of personal taste.

With enough money either ones own or investors. Plus enough hype in the media on forums and blogs.
It's not hard to create or "curate" and attraction that gets 4K plus visitors a day.
At 3 quid a ticket, bored people went out of curiosity and because they were bored so the attraction definately brightened up their day.

So if banksy brought a print out (edition of 100). And sold it like stik baby was sold, do you still think I'd get one if I rocked up at 6am on day of release? I think not.

My art has a greater value to humanity than mere financial value.
Any rich fool with an expensive interior decorator can be persuaded to part with money for a pice of junk.
It's not sold by white shoe boys with BBC media and Yellow journalism connections.
Even tho I keep my prices low when I decide to sell, my art is in private collections worldwide including Monaco. I have been offered gallery gigs in London in the past and never took up the offers.
I make a lot of art that I have not put online, it goes direct to buyers. I work in all mediums and techniques.
My art has been sold thru major auction houses but thats another story and a big can o worms
The Andy ass Banana was a parody of Warhols Banana based on the woman who shot Warhols scum manifesto called Banana up your ass.
If you judge art by how much it sells for at auction, then by all means play the investment game.
Great artists create, bad artists have a PR team.

In terms of how many prints produced to how many are available? Banksy has made 1000's more than stik so there is going to be more available so not really a level playing field.

I can't predict the future but I suspect Banksy will be remembered well after we are gone, Stik maybe but let think about how many household street artists most people have heard of in the last 30 years. I can only think of 3 that the general public would know of, Basquiat, Haring and Banksy.
