The hopeful in me thinks he could release some prints and donate the proceeds to this cause as well did not take long to mention prints, thought we would at least get a few pages in

Thumbs up.
Not many street/urban artists today have been so politically driven and inclined as B...yes it keeps him on the tip of our tongues, but at the same time...damn.

New Banksy - Calais, by Lroy on Dec 11, 2015 16:52:31 GMT 1, What is interesting and great is the whole update on the website with great photos of the camp with its blue tents amongst papers or rubbish, photos too of Banksy ' s mates or helpers working in the mud and wanting to help hardly with conviction. And of course, the stencils.. I know Calais and few people there, I don't know if they will protect the stencils or not. It s great that Banksy will bring anusnents for the kids. And it is supra great that French socialists left their voice for Sunday's vote, as this Marine Le Pen and her National front will take a big hole right their dirty arse ! No FN in Calais ( if it was the contrary - it won't be - , it would be a catastrophe for migrants..

New Banksy - Calais, by Lroy on Dec 11, 2015 17:00:26 GMT 1, lets talk about the good piece We're not all in the same boat Géricault would be proud. i don't know if Gericault would be proud, just it makes me think also for migrants asking for ferries to UK ( even if we can see the poor/rich, raft/yacht, savingtheirlives/cruiseoverGreece ) ... Why UK government does not accept some of them ? Some here like Banksy gestures for charity but why asking already for a print ? Why don't open the border ? This is The Message, No need another thing it's perfect.

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 11, 2015 17:27:22 GMT 1, All of your art critiques are as deep as it gets. comparing stencil art in the street to realism is a huge lol, especially when the narrative is the most powerful message at an absolute perfect time in our lives. His platform is what matters, and he has power to bring issues to light with impeccable timing, much like Chris Rock, or Louis CK. he barks, we listen.
Im going to say it, and its going to be hard so I hope everyone is sitting.
Banksy's conceptual prowess have far outweighed his artistic ability since the beginning. Quite frankly, while I believe he is a celebrity artist and I love his contribution, he isnt very good at "art". him and his team are INCREDIBLY good at politics, and narrative. Youre telling me you actually like the artwork of WSM, Grannies, Flags, That jesus one, etc? Its the idea that carries it all forward, and the style is just "banksy". We know what we're getting. Sometimes he surprises us, Monkey Parliament, Dismaland, etc but the same old 15 year old style keeps resurfacing and as an entire body of work, artistically it really isnt that good.
So, before anyone starts critiquing the work so simply, sit back and examine the piece in the context of human history, art history, and what it REALLY means for it to be sitting where it is. because you sound ridiculous.

New Banksy - Calais, by Deleted on Dec 11, 2015 17:45:04 GMT 1, How soon before people try to break the wall off and sell it on auction? Such a shame. Beautiful pieces with so much going on in each piece. The boat one is my absolute favorite of them all. It's simple, makes you think, but also very powerful. Anyone think Banksy might release another print??? I know of any of these were turned to prints they would sell immediately.

The days of the print are over IMHO and not really a bad thing given how the last releases went and the associated consumerism.
As I said earlier up the thread anyone trying to liberate Steve Jobs is going to be in for a struggle as its a reinforced concrete pillar holding a road up :-)
