invader kits, to open or to not open?, by alk416 on Dec 21, 2015 23:35:33 GMT 1, Just got a few invader kits all still sealed.
How much of the value am I going to lose opening these and framing them?
They look so sweet and would look sick framed....but these are not cheap anymore and don't want to lose too much value. I wish I could find more that were already opened so I didn't have this dilemma.

invader kits, to open or to not open?, by Deleted on Dec 22, 2015 0:08:21 GMT 1, Depending on your country.
In France Cultura do tile kits and also loose tiles pick and mix.
No stopping people buying loose tiles and making a copy for home use to put on their wall and keep the kit sealed and in a NASA strong room in a vacuum so as to keep it's investment potential.

invader kits, to open or to not open?, by longshanks on Dec 22, 2015 0:49:16 GMT 1, Open them and frame them - they look great! In my opinion they can't be enjoyed properly from within the bag. If you want to take it to the next level, open carefully with a scalpel at one end and you can get the foil packaging framed on the reverse. Good for authenticity and shows off the invasion instructions etc
I wouldn't worry about the value, you'd have no problem selling a well framed kit - not as many about nowadays. Bedsides, you won't want to sell it as it'll look epic

invader kits, to open or to not open?, by Aza on Dec 22, 2015 9:33:29 GMT 1, Back in the day I opened mine and threw away the bag. Kind of liberating really as it is now worthless and will always be on my wall.
I didn't bother framing it and stuck it up as originally intended, up high and directly on my wall.
I understand your predicament though, but I would definitely carefully open it and get it on the wall. It's for enjoying on a daily basis

They look great framed, you can carefully open the bag and include it in the frame, and they can be sold framed.

invader kits, to open or to not open?, by sakyamuni on Dec 22, 2015 10:14:50 GMT 1, i have two and I opened both. I do it carefully, keep the bag and mail from the spaceshop just in case... They look great on the wall, and you can't really appreciate them if you keep them hidden inside the bag. They need to breath On a more "financial" point of view, I see more and more kits nicely framed for sale, or with the mention "carefully opened" and prices are much higher than cost so there's no need to worry... To me, there is nothing better than opening my door when I come back at night and all I see is the green light of the "glow in the dark" kit right in front of me...

invader kits, to open or to not open?, by alexdb on Dec 22, 2015 10:32:20 GMT 1, Just open them. Mine is opened and hanging in a corner, even without frame and glass. Just a metal sheet behind. I do not intend to sell mine and for me a price tag is worthless. I just enjoy the work and when I will move to another home, I still can take it along with me.
If you are outside in front of my doorway and even on the street in front of it, you can see the space invader in the dark. Looks very cool when passing by at night.

invader kits, to open or to not open?, by Aza on Dec 22, 2015 12:09:58 GMT 1, Or just keep it in the pack and make your own for display. I have about 5 homemade invaders around my house, I think I have a problem though.
