Catawiki Art Auctions , by Dive Jedi on Dec 26, 2015 16:13:40 GMT 1, Benelux means BElgium NEtherlands LUXemburg. Also many German and French buyers. I have sold art to buyers from as far as Taiwan and Oman, but mainly the countries above. They are expanding though, so might grow bigger in USA as well.

Catawiki Art Auctions , by Deleted on Dec 26, 2015 22:26:33 GMT 1, apparently they raised about ten million in backing and it's said to be a good auction venue online.
It puts me off though that to sell, one has to send the item to the buyer before being paid as the auction Catawiki acts as escrow or takes payment from the buyer then pays the seller. Seller gets their money in 3 weeks if I read it right on their site.

They do pay very well scheduled though.

If they don't pay the sale is cancelled. If they charge back it's CataWiki's problem. And ship in registered mail....
Only 2 things certain in live.

Does Catawiki wait a few days before telling the seller to ship?
What if item is lost in the mail?

Catawiki Art Auctions , by andysh on Dec 29, 2015 2:48:28 GMT 1, The problem is if anything goes wrong with the shipment Catawiki "blames" the seller. The one who buys is always right, he can complaint whenever he wants and Catawiki will actually suspend your sells even if you haven't done anything wrong. Not easy in general, but still a good auction to sell but specially to buy as most things go under the regular price.

Probably a good place to sell inexpensive collectables.
Seems harsh to blame the seller once a second hand item has been sent.
Secure packing is very expensive in time and materials and buyers just don't want to pay the actual real shipping and packing cost in most cases.
Cheapskates

Catawiki Art Auctions , by mifez on Jul 5, 2020 17:28:57 GMT 1, A lot of estimates are way too high in my opinion. Bought several Dran books for half that valuation.
On eBay there a lot for half the estimates right now. Just a heads up

Catawiki Art Auctions , by The Big Game on Jul 5, 2020 17:37:48 GMT 1, I agree with you, but Catawiki only allows you to put a reserve price if the item's value is higher than 210 €. This is why estimate can seem too high sometimes.
Anyway, as for every auction, what will count in the end are not the estimates but the winning bids

Catawiki Art Auctions , by elisajafa on Mar 12, 2021 15:07:31 GMT 1, Hello,
I already sold 3 artworks on this forum (through urbanartassociation.com/thread/170642/selling-sculptures-arsham-banksy-murakami), I'm so happy for that, but things are now slowing down in the above thread (and I have duplicates of some artworks, so many more to sell) and I think I will try to sell on Catawiki.
I did read all posts about Catawiki in the forum but most of them are a bit old now so I hope to have current and in the present time advice.
So firstly : do you advice me to use Catawiki or an other platform to sell mostly Arsham's artworks ?
Do you have advice about using Catawiki : when to post my offers ? The best way to attract potential buyers ? How to deal the best way with their 12,5% fees ? etc.
Thank you so much

How to deal the best way with their 12,5% fees ? etc. Thank you so much I would first do a search in google for the closed auctions... to see if your pieces got a good price. I think you cannot negociate the 12.5% fees. But you can write to the support (if they ever answer) . It doesn't matter when you post your add, since (I think) for the modern and contemporany art the new lots start on Fridays 12.00 pm. See other closed auctions for the description of the add and take very good photos. Hope this helps.
