Nola - Pink / Yellow, by lee3 on Dec 26, 2015 20:39:56 GMT 1, There are 6 different color ways (dark orange to orange, pink to yellow, green, green to blue, green to purple and green to burgundy) in the AP edition comprising 66 in sum but there are not 11 of each as there are more of some and less of others. I suspect only PC knows for certain the exact number of each.

Nola - Pink / Yellow, by Black Apple Art on Dec 26, 2015 20:48:32 GMT 1, Only 6. It is the rarest color way produced, aside from the Hand finished "Deaf children at The Great Ormond Steet Hospital" auction Nola which is a 1/1 with a red painted earring and yellow rain

Nola - Pink / Yellow, by Hubble Bubble on Dec 27, 2015 23:02:31 GMT 1, Yeah. Just my opinion. I prefer the white rain followed by the grey rain. I feel that both these colourways fit well with the main picture. To me, the coloured rain is garish and cheapens the visual quality of the image. (Though obviously not its price.)
I must declare an interest, though, in that I own a main edition Nola.

I agree that the white is for me aesthetically most appealing but I do like several of the colors as it emphasizes the rain which after all is the tragedy of the piece. I do own a colored AP but I think dark to light orange is my favorite ( not the one I own) because reminds me of a great original sold at Bonhams many moons ago.

There were a pair at bonhams and I remember them both very well to this day and one of the reasons i maintain that it's far better to buy originals there then to sell. The one you show above sold for "just" 55k in April of '11. There was a pink one before that (same size too at 148 x 102 cm) that went unsold at the bottom of the art market in Feb '09 with a 60k low estimate.
I remember being surprised by both results when the hammers fell, even more so with hindsight.

I know a few people that were at that auction in 2011 and are haunted to this day as both were torn on bidding and giving in to the inner voice that said "get it". As we have seen I'm sure many will be looking back at today and saying the same thing.

Nola - Pink / Yellow, by sport1 on Dec 28, 2015 18:03:47 GMT 1, As I remember the Nola was at a "furniture" auction at Bonhams, there was a GWB canvas up first followed by Nola. I attended the auction and the Nola looked fantastic in person. The sale room was quiet and I remember bidding on the GWB and the guy sitting next to me asking why I was wasting my money! I wish I had held on and had a chance to bid on Nola.
Hindsight a great thing.
