Banksy • Medicom • Brandalised , by saucyjack on Jan 2, 2016 21:06:32 GMT 1, Who would buy this tat anyway? What a horrible piece of vomit, buy a Ken doll and dress him up. Sad end to street art Not sure if it's an end to "urban art", as Medicom worked earlier with KAWS on a number of pieces including his Accomplices. To some a toy, to others a piece of Banksy...and to others a potentially fine investment with a better turnaround than most other financial investments. The KAWS Accomplice originally sold for approximately $100-$200 dollars, I bought one from someone mid-2010 for $500 and sold it last year for $1,500. In all likelihood this Banksy piece will be a nice investment that could fuel other purchases over time - history has already proven this with Medicom and KAWS. As to Toy Tokyo, I live in Brooklyn and am well-familiar with them, while a fun store they have always charged the highest prices with at times absurd markups, however they've managed to stay in business while many similar have failed. Smart shoppers, who are not the world's majority, can easily find better prices elsewhere. And yes this post is about "the financial", but as it is an object, not necessarily art. A refreshing bit of honesty about the motivations of many on this board.

Banksy • Medicom • Brandalised , by Con Art Studio on Jan 3, 2016 2:43:56 GMT 1, Still a s**t ken doll with flowers. everyone is allowed to have their own opinion but that's an extremely ignorant, elitist and close minded statement.
Do you not realize your view on this particular piece can be applied to ANYTHING? Still some s**t ink on a piece of paper? Still some s**t paint on a piece of canvas? There are a lot of people who think collecting prints is stupid. People collect all sorts of things, including vinyl and resin figures such as this flower thrower, so instead of belittling those people because you don't personally collect those things, try either contributing more to the conversation other than a blunt statement or maybe just not say anything at all.
With that said, people spend tons of money on all sorts off things that I don't think is worth it and I'm sure a bunch will buy this. If you have the money, are fine with the fact it has nothing to do with Banksy and still want this, then go for it... Otherwise, save your money.

Followed that by getting a KAWS silkscreen (for $800, going for $5,000 now). Started to read and think about how vinyl degrades over time, realized that I preferred art on the wall to an object kept in a box out of light.
Always dug art, this site nurtured my leaving toys for art on the walls. I think most on this site dig the art, and like art collectors trade up to improve their art holdings.
The Banksy / Medicom release is a collectible toy that will undoubtably rise in value.

One note of contention with your post is that this is a "Banksy / Medicom release." Jo Brooks herself has said Banksy has nothing to do with these toys. This is simply a Medicom release of a toy based on a Banksy image.

Banksy • Medicom • Brandalised , by Cutkillavince on Jan 6, 2016 22:12:39 GMT 1, There's also the love rat for pre-order
www.mintyfresh.eu/po-10-love-rat-white-by-banksy-x-medicom.html
This is the White edition of the 10" Love Rat, created by Banksy x Medicom UK's most wanted artist Banksy is coming to our little universe. He will be tucked under the wing of behemoth toy maker Medicom Toys from Japan and under the new entity known as BRANDALISM. Together they start of with 2 of the most iconic creations from Banksy, the Flower Bomber (not available due to licensing) and the Love Rat.
The Love Rat by Banksy is here to stay and no matter how much we hate it we know that there is no choice but to coexist with it. The Lover Rat by Banksy stands about 10" tall (25 cm). It's truly the world's first offi cial 3d creation from the graffiti-art of BANKSY.

Banksy • Medicom • Brandalised , by Petrusino on Jan 8, 2016 15:00:31 GMT 1, For those interested, the word "Brandalism/Brandalised" is referred to a brand owned by "Full Colour Black Ltd" which is the rights owner on many photographs, shooted by many photographers, on banksy graffiti. Banksy is a shadow and he does not conduct licensing deals, not even is he associated with any companies in this regard. I'm sure Medicom, big and respectfull brand, has followed all the possible ways to make this line of products the most respectful possible about licenses etc towards Mr B. and towards his collectors, perhaps, the only opportunity to have a "Banksy license" found around was with "Full Colour Black ltd". Medicom is a top brand in his matter, with dozens of toys sold for thousands of dollars at auctions; bearbricks, KAWS and many others; The Sync brand, other name involved, was created by Medicom two years ago: "In a new effort to produce high quality garments and goods in collaboration with artists, Medicom Toy has created its new Sync. label together with Tomohiro Konno of NEXUSVII. The two had previously worked hand in hand on OriginalFake, the clothing line in collaboration with Brooklyn artist KAWS...."
The Sync brand has already collaborated with Dface and others artists since his launch:
www.syncstore.jp/artist/.
I read around that PERFECT STUDIO took two years to mold this "Flower Bomber" and the result it's quite awesome to me, much more better than the prototype presented in june. At the end what I do not really like it's the price, but this figure will certainly increase in value in the future because of the fame of Banksy, because of Medicom and his history in the world of art toys, and because, certainly, there are a lot of people who would like to have a well made 3d rendition, of a world famous icon of peace, in their living room.

This is what have thought many people in june 2014, when they passed in Central Park and an old man was selling canvases "that had nothing to do with Banksy" for $60. Sometimes in art it is better to show love to the work first and then to the artist.

Are we really sure Banksy isn't in any way connected with this Full Colour Black LTD and, maybe, he doesn't want to directly use his name in this kind of business? I wouldn't swear to it.

Even if not a collaboration, we can not deny it is rad; The details, the position, the instant of the throwing seems perfectly captured to me; it is clear that Perfect Studio spent lot of work in the making of it. I really like the size of 36 cm, not small and not even huge, and I like the material too; polystone is a material similar to porcelain. I do not like the entire line of products anyway, for example the release of Love Rat has not had the same effect on me.

Comparing this vinyl release to the Banksy stall stunt is hilarious. By the way, it was October 2014. This is what have thought many people in june 2014, when they passed in Central Park and an old man was selling canvases "that had nothing to do with Banksy" for $60. Sometimes in art it is better to show love to the work first and then to the artist. It was October. Mine was just a reflection, a thought. However it is in Polystone, not vinyl.

Banksy • Medicom • Brandalised , by Drymounted on Jan 9, 2016 10:53:45 GMT 1, Well I'll be first to say I have ordered one. Don't care if it is from the B man or not. Think it is a fantastic thing to own and can't wait to get it. Not sure about the rat though to be honest. I did as well. I purchased it from CJ Mart though for $490 shipped to the US. I personally like the piece and it'll look nice on a shelf next to a framed Mr. B piece.
