star wars posters. , by S.A.S on Jan 7, 2016 15:47:46 GMT 1, Are you looking to try and sell these dude?
Just wondered if was original and value if so. Selling would depend on value as me and my son both star wars fans.

star wars posters. , by globalplanb on Jan 7, 2016 21:08:46 GMT 1, Depends on the condition and authenticity dude. A lot of fakes out there. if it was a property They would say "location location location" for good art prints it's "condition condition condition"?

star wars posters. , by globalplanb on Jan 7, 2016 21:12:57 GMT 1, I would imagine that would make them pretty much worthless? Movie posters are normally linen backed for preservation not laminated? oops that doesn't sound good?

star wars posters. , by londonfx on Jan 8, 2016 6:19:14 GMT 1, Have to echo what everyone has said.
The grading for posters is very strict. Get the best you can afford.
Some versions are rarer than others.
Some posters have been withdrawn from circulation for various reason
Do lots of research before your but anything

star wars posters. , by Deleted on Jan 8, 2016 7:18:51 GMT 1, Off topic, but on Antiques Roadshow on Sunday they said an original War of the Worlds poster (I imagine it's a particular one) is worth about ยฃ100k!! Blimey. I saw that. Did they say if it was a UK issue poster it was worth 100K? I know an original poster for Fritz Langs, Metropolis is worth a million dollars today. Original star wars posters have to be a potential investment. Movie and sport etc memorabilia is the fastest growing collectables market in the USA apparently. Note sure about one million, but yeah def over 600,000 GBP
Movie memorabilia is indeed a growing collectable market. I have been following trends and prices for the last 4 years and gonna it was cheap 3 years ago; now there are more and more buyers and people throwing bids to increase average auctions price so that their stock get a premium... but then unlike fine art, margin on posters is usually small and some people (especially on Ebay) ship poster like toilet paper
This said, if you want to invest in posters, you need to do good research and focus on poster before 80s that is when posters where printed by NSS only (with code bar and NSS no and ALWAYS folded... limited to number of theaters... and supposed to be returned to NSS after screening). From 80s, studio houses starting printing their own posters, making it difficult to know exactly if it is original.
So posters before 80s are always a good investment (for big name I mean) depending on condition. Posters after 80s are worthless, unless for big names or posters which have recalled (like Pulp Fiction with the cigarettes; or Spiderman with the Twin Towers) but there are so many fakes and it is impossible to differentiate them. Also, some were printed in thousands.
Can you make money with posters, yes you can, but as said above, little money. Will market plummet ? This is what collectors are thinking, since stock for posters is large. Also, there is that generation collector issue, the young ones and coming generation are not interested in poster of Casablanca or old movies; they want to get poster of their child movies and this is why, despite the increase of price of posters from the 80s and above (e.g. Ghostbusters, Goonies, etc. to latest Mattel), there are worthless.
Last but not least, if you leave in an old house in Montreal or Canada with an old floor, you better watch what's below your floor... as flooring companies there were used to set up tiles with large movie posters (it was cheap and big). Someone recently found dozen of posters below their tiles, each one worth 100,000 USD and plus !
Good thing with posters is that they are standard size (1sh) so you can buy beautiful snapframe and change posters from time to time.
Edit - Added a link adding stuff to what I just said - movieposters.ha.com/worth/movie-poster-value.s?ic=Worth-WhatsValuable-071713
