Artists once thought to be Banksy/, by sugarartjp on Jan 16, 2016 5:05:15 GMT 1, For Example, Dolk at the beginning of his Career, and then Mr Brainwash through the film - Exit Through The Gift Shop,
And then FAKE, one of his Pieces is called FAKE LOVE, which is sold as "Boy Meets Girl" by Banksy at many Reproduction poster shops.
Does anybody know about other Artists thought to be Banksy or who used to be thought or speculated as Banksy.
I am looking forward to your helps so much.

Artists once thought to be Banksy/, by Dr Plip on Jan 16, 2016 12:26:15 GMT 1, Typically what Banksy would say Thats what mason Storm would say. Banksy speaks thru his PR team How do we know that Banksy even exists? Perhaps back in the 90s, a PR firm were sitting there with nothing to do, thinking "We've got all this PR just lying around, it's a shame we can't do something with it". So perhaps they came up with the idea of creating a fictitious graffiti character in order to make a bit of money for themselves, doing the PR work that they love. Then things just snowballed and they don't know how to stop it now.

Like this maybe ? goldwoody.com/bansky-is-damien-hurst-part-1/
I'm sure Banksy exists as Robbo met him.
Now whether a long time ago in a galaxy far far away or Bristol a decade ago, a very rich artist had an an idea to employ or fund this up and coming artist as part of a team and a plan to create a global brand and an image and a myth could be just a rumour.

Artists once thought to be Banksy/, by Dr Plip on Jan 16, 2016 12:31:42 GMT 1, I love the theory that Hirst is actually Banksy. I'd like to think that a world-renowned, successful and multi-millionaire artist gets his jollies by secretly being another world-renowned, successful and multi-millionaire artist. Because that's mental and I want to live in a world where that kind of mentalness takes place.

At this stage, with their money, the only way things could go pear shaped for them now is if they took their combined wealth and foolishly used it to pay NASA to laser the moon into a pleasing pear shape.

Artists once thought to be Banksy/, by Deleted on Jan 16, 2016 12:45:26 GMT 1, The longer this Banksy mystery goes on does make me think that it was a well thought out stunt, maybe it started out as one thing not intending for what has happened to happen and and it just naturally grew into into the monster it is today, Maybe he/she or they were taken by surprise also. The publicity and money this machine would make if he/she or they were to reveal themselves would be phenomenal but I wonder would the hype then start to dwindle??
How long can it go on before people loose interest......
I'm just bitter because I haven't got a Banksy:)

Things can always go pearshaped. Whether Banksy is one guy with a team working under his orders and vision in with holes in his socks or one guy working for another guy who pays a team etc makes no difference to me.
If it's Hirst behind Banksy, it would be amusing to see the reactions of the uber celebs who paid thousands to buy a bit of street cred.

But the artists, barring drunken financial activity, should be fine for the rest of their lives. As for the art buying public, if you're buying art for the right reasons, unless it spontaneously bursts into flames, you won't really care if Hirst turned out to be Banksy. It would probably create more fans than it would lose, because it would turn out to be a legendary bit of marketeering and be a great movie.

I don't know how well of people are who painted spots and made art for Hirst or if it helped them with their art careers.
I think it would make a lot of difference in that people who are collectors not investors would rather buy from Banksy than from Hirst.
I like to think there is some huge slug behind the whole art world where paintings and shit sells for millions. This huge slug owning and paying all the money for all the art that has sold for millions for all artists names and buying and selling by proxy.
That even the big dealers and Hirst etc are all this huge slugs puppets.

That even the big dealers and Hirst etc are all this huge slugs puppets. Years ago, I used to work in an antique centre. After awhile, I came to the conclusion that, barring the odd sale to outsiders, what was actually happening was that the dealers represented a large pot of money that, through dealers buying and selling to themselves, was just basically circling around the antique centre. As long as the money kept moving, everything was fine. Then every so often one of the dealers would die or selfishly leave, taking money with them. But basically, it was one lot of money that kept moving and keeping everyone afloat.
Also, the collective noun for antique dealers is a "Whinge" of dealers.
Anyway, back to the subject of this thread, JPS was briefly thought to be Banksy wasn't he?

I know antiques dealers and the antiques trade and never being part of it.
That is very true about the pot of money and dealers turning over stock to keep the money and market moving. The auction rings too. Dealers taking stock ons ale or return is common. hat works fine untill a dealer flogs another dealers stock and does a runner with the money. Very few dealers go to the police
Same in the art world.

Artists once thought to be Banksy/, by Lroy on Jan 16, 2016 13:50:41 GMT 1, I don't understand why some are still continuing ( because Banksy now is a big immaterial thing with a lot of helpers/artists - as Pins per example - , money and communication ) to deny this Gunningham :-) , and all his history and the mates from the beginning as Inkie per example. They can break the myth because of secrecy and all this bullshit, but not the man. That is just the opinion of a simple guy from France. Back at the beginning. Plip is right. Now ? We don't care and enjoy artworks.

Artists once thought to be Banksy/, by sugarartjp on Jan 16, 2016 17:54:46 GMT 1, Thank you guys
I think that's the right way to do it.
However what I am trying to do, get is not that I am looking for copycats for Banksy, I am looking for Artists who were thought by others - collectors - fans - critiques(in any media, blog, news paper whatsoever) not who think they are "Banksy"
Anyone else with his hand up for this question?
Thank you guys
