His more "graphic / adult oriented "pieces such as this have always been a hard sell. I remember this one called doing the rounds for a while. Its not very wall friendly for most folk, and there are many better examples of Choe's work out there. Along with the rather odd publicity he got a couple years back, not too many folk looking to buy his work. About £1000 would be my guess. But, then again, its only a guess, which is a shame as I do like his work and have a lot of Choe prints and some lovely originals.

I have been trying to sell it but not getting much response. Any input would be helpful as to what the value might be. Also, do you know any particular auction house that might be able to represent the piece well at auction?
To celebrate the opening release of the Scion XB, Toyota/Scion invited David Choe to paint one of the new cars.
4 panels on the passenger side were covered with a plastic media. David Choe painted his mural. Later, the panels were pulled off and mounted on 2 black foam boards.
You can actually see David Choe painting the Scion, THIS ACTUAL PAINTING, in the movie, Dirty Hands – The David Choe Feature Film. This film is now available online, just google it.
Scion has saved the original car that the painting was made upon, but the art was sold to my late sister. My sister was “in to” David Choe before most of us ever I even heard of him… that’s just how she was, ahead of her time. She’s passed on and this art needs to go to a home that will appreciate it as much as she did.
The following pictures are organized from front to rear. There are two panels, each with 2 pictures mounted on them.
The Panel at the front of the car, measures 37″ high by 74 1/2″ wide. The first picture, the front panel, #1, measures 29 1/2″ Wide by 24″ High. The second picture, #2, the front door, measures 41″ Wide by 25 1/2″ High.
The Panel at the rear of the car measures 37″ high by 56″ wide. The third painting, the back door, measures 35 1/2″ Wide by 27″ High. The rear painting, #4, measures 20″ Wide by 17″ High.

All of my attempts have gone unanswered I don't believe he sells work for new clients. He's already set for life. At this point, the art he creates and posts is really just his own therapy. Most the murals he's doing are for friends (David Chang, Adam Perry Lang, etc.). |
