How to present/display prints for a charity auction?, by ldnyinzer on Feb 22, 2016 23:35:57 GMT 1, Hi all,
As part of a charity I am closely involved with I have been recruiting various prints that we hope to auction off this coming April.
Although we have been running for 3 years it is the first time we have included art works. I was wondering if anyone here had bought from a similar event and wanted to know how they were displayed?
Will having them framed damage the prints in anyway? I was skeptical to frame them anyway as the frame would have to match the buyers taste and decor etc. Also it is a fundraiser so I don't want to spend lots on the frame/museum grade glass and not raise as much for the charity.
Any ideas please let me know!
Thanks

How to present/display prints for a charity auction?, by Deleted on Feb 23, 2016 0:02:07 GMT 1, I would get a colour copy done of each prints. Put them in a cheap frame to display at the auction night. Then give the winner the original print in a tube to take home. Then maybe put the copies in your office.

How to present/display prints for a charity auction?, by ldnyinzer on Feb 23, 2016 17:46:25 GMT 1, Thanks TopBoy,
It has also been suggested to display them on magnetic boards, so the guests will be able to see the fine detail in the prints and the colours.
Our guests are not generally thought of as art enthusiasts so I like the idea of them being able to see the original piece to really understand what they are taking home. I think sending the prints home in a tube is very smart!
Can you see any downfalls to this? We have magnetic boards from previous events so it would eliminate cost.
Has anyone seen any other events with alternative set ups?
Thanks
