Ive seen the originals pf these prints and i think id be really hard to fake for someone who knows what they are looking for, even though kaws prints are outstanding in quality now, they were still top notch quality back in the day, even the running chum prints have fakes but the fakes are literally garbage they are black cardstock with clean cut edges oppssed to the deckled edges on tbe real ones which were done on arches french paper. The fakes must be super easy to spot imo

In 2002 when you picked up a print from an artists first exhibition there wasn't any paperwork or anything you'd think to pick up, ask for or keep. It was about the art and that you wanted it for your wall. It's signed. It's the screen print. It's beautiful.

And his toy releases were arpund $150 people purchased becuase they liked it back then, there was no hype machine backing the sales and if you didnt buy right away you could go back a few days later and still pick up a bendy or companion as they sat online for a while if you decided not to purchase right at drop.

When I got to the exhibition relatively early on the first day, the main pieces hadn't even been priced up. I bought the set of these prints as they seemed a steal but had to go to a nearby printing shop to buy a cardboard tube just to carry them home in as nothing was provided by the gallery at that early stage. By the time I did get back the next day, all but a few pieces had sold so I only managed to get a bus stop photo which KAWS was kind enough to sign. Despite looking everywhere I can't even find a receipt for that, but there must have been something at the time as I had to collect the photo when the exhibition closed.
There was definitely no certificate or the like with these.

I can vouch for this at the Elms Lesters show and had wondered about attempting to get my set certified some how due to the lack of documentation and drastic increase in interest but have never been a hardcore collector and never got around to investigating the proper way to do so.
