Would you buy a piece if it has been stored in a tube? , by jcookgurl on Mar 26, 2016 13:02:35 GMT 1, I was offered an , but found out it's been stored in it tube since the buyer received it. Would you be more or less inclined to purchase?
Alternatively, I was offered the same print, stored flat since reception, for $75 more.
Would you go with the cheaper one, stored in tube? Or purchase the one that has been stored flat?
Just curious! Thank you!

Of course the stored flat would be better and a bit easier to frame, so if the price is only $75 higher I think that would be worth it.

Would you buy a piece if it has been stored in a tube? , by singerstu on Mar 26, 2016 13:11:22 GMT 1, As long as the print in the tube has no ripples and creases then it can be flattened easily. Why pay more?

Would you buy a piece if it has been stored in a tube? , by Nick on Mar 26, 2016 13:28:35 GMT 1, Depends on the print.
Giclee go for the tubed.
Screen print it's a flip..personally i think they store just fine rolled in a tube. The longer it's been stored the more likely I would be to pay for the flat copy.
Hand finished / painted. Always go for the stored flat option as ink's and paints have tendencies to crack the thicker they are applied.
I'd also ask how its been stored in the tube..the tighter the roll the harder it will be too flatten. If its in a nice loose roll should be fine.

Would you buy a piece if it has been stored in a tube? , by jcookgurl on Mar 26, 2016 14:06:20 GMT 1, So the print is maya hayuk's multiverses.
I feel like stored flat might be the better option for this one.

Would you buy a piece if it has been stored in a tube? , by Deleted on Mar 26, 2016 16:55:41 GMT 1, If I was buying something in a tube, I would expect the seller to take it out of the tube and show it to me flat. Or at least send detailed good quality photos of it out of the tube and flat.

Would you buy a piece if it has been stored in a tube? , by Viking Surfer on Mar 27, 2016 9:17:33 GMT 1, Depends how much that $75 is worth to you?
Is it worth you taking several weeks to painstakingly flatten it out without damaging it? Is it worth a potential ripple or two?

I received a print that was kept in the tube a long time apparently : impossible to take it flat : it was already damaged, with creases and more. It was as wood !

Would you buy a piece if it has been stored in a tube? , by johanw on Apr 1, 2016 7:37:28 GMT 1, But what is the time frame for "storage"? For how long can it be in a tube before getting worried? I know depending on paint metod but still? Some shipping takes 6-8 weeks when on a bananaboat shipping budget.

It is not ink but paper that is muting back in wood.., Even POW tells the buyers to don't keep the prints in the tubes ..
