An art dealer who initially valued a Banksy on the side of a house at more than a million pounds now says it is worth - nothing.

Art dealer Robin Barton, who specialises in the Bristol-born street artist's work, said that because of the dilapidated state of the mural, the anonymous artist's famous "Spy booth" has no commercial value.

Mr Barton was commissioned to value the house and mural where the street art was painted by the council and owner of the property.

In a report, Mr Barton said: "It is my professional opinion that the dilapidated state of the mural and the listed status of the flank wall that the work has been applied to has resulted in the work having no viable commercial value.

"This assessment is based on more than ten years of experience working with and successfully marketing similarly difficult street works by this artist."

David Possee, who owns the mural in Cheltenham said he had plans to renovate the property.

"The first is to renovate the property myself and the second is to offer it to local businessman Hekmat Kaveh, who has made me an offer to purchase the property and restore the Banksy for the benefit of Cheltenham," he said.

The mural appeared on the house in Fairview Road, Cheltenham, on April 13, 2014. It shows three secret agents eavesdropping on conversations at a phone box.
