Seeing as Eelus has posted up his new piece and Dubai was getting mentioned I thought it deserved it's own thread. There was also a Shok 1 piece appear not too long ago. Obviously all done with permission so your decision how 'street' it is.

Am I wrong or do they have a terrible human rights issue going on there!? Plus Environmental impacts of that city Shouldn't they be putting up anti Dubai slogans?

I feel the same to be honest, I was very disappointed to see one of my favourites Etam Cru there. Having been there and seeing migrant workers raking through the bins of houses with a couple of super cars in the drive pretty much summed up what the place is about for me. Not a fan at all.

I think it's up to the individual artist to decide and then not be hypocritical about issues. Ron English is anti Trump with his Trump Change etc Humpty Trumpy built a great wall, yet seems to ignore the way rich gulf states immigration and foreign workers policies and in regard to accepting asylum seekers.
I'm sure these artists made plenty of money and hope to gain wealthy buyers for their art and in reality street urban art of this type is not urban it's just exterior decorating.
Personally i'm no fan of any mysoginist ideology.

Edit: I am not, in any ways, defending the quality of the work done by the artist for this projects. I am also not a big fan of many artworks done by artists I usually like. Dubai should not be blamed for trying to embellished its walls. The "business" part of it is up to each artist decision.

What would happen if painting illegally in an area like Chelsea or Westminster? Dubai is pretty comparable, albeit with much newer buildings. I suspect if you sprayed something on Harrod's it would be a fine at least. As to Dubai's human rights, and as ane states it's not as bad as some in the region and they do acknowledge further progress is needed.
Personally, I think Dubai is a model for the region as they respect local religious considerations yet have westernised on their own terms. If you want to complain about Dubai, start with the transport. The roads are dangerous and terribly designed and it always seems like rush hour on the metro. They decided as well to build a tram line that seemingly goes to nowhere. Sorting out that mess should be top of Sheik Mo's priorities.

-> Yes, you can go to church.

Being a frequent visitor to Dubai, UAE over the last 10 years (must have gone at least 20 times). IMO the roads are horrendous and very dangerous. A quick wiki search confirms that the UAE road fatalities (not Dubai I grant you) are over x5 more dangerous than UK roads.

Some UAE "driving issues":
-> Tailgating at 120-140km/h (although hundreds of radar have been implemented to fix this behavior).
-> Driving +160-180 km/h on empty straight lines.
-> Overpassing a high speed on the left or right side depending on which one is free to go...
