Exploring the transformation of the found object into something decorative and the contrast between the rigid geometric forms and the rough wooden surface.
More recently I've been making pieces that start off as abstract paintings on wood that are then cut into individual tessellating tiles. These are then re-constructed to form isometric patterns:

I wonder if you have tried some sort of block printing on paper? Might make a nice edition of one off prints.
or maybe producing pottery tiles? and could that go on to putting your work onto the streets in a similar way to Invader just an idea.

I've asked about painting the local skate park and the youth centre, but the powers that be aren't interested. Have applied to Upfest but not heard back yet. But hopefully the opportunity will arise in the future.

I've seen a few of Vararely's outdoor pieces (including the one in Palos from the link below) and these were made using tiles.

If you ever get to go to Pecs in Hungary I would recommend a visit to the Vasarely museum. He worked in a number of mediums and the larger carpets are some of my favourites. You should be able to spot a few outdoor pieces around the town too.
Should you find yourself there, a trip to the Zsolnay museum is also worth a visit. I think they produced some (if not all) the tiles he used to make the pieces in Pecs.
