Its a funny one really as people tend to prefer a work that is pristine without having been restored, however due to poor shipping and handling conditions (handling creases scuffs etc.) often if a work has been restored correctly its in better nick than when first received from the original release!

Personally I send everything to a conservation expert for assessment before it goes to a framers. Very occasionally the answer is not to treat it where the process is seen as to aggressive.
