Indeed mate, not for me though even at half the price mentioned. Although I fully agree with heavyconsumer. If you like them then that price is great

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by stuey09 on Mar 16, 2008 2:29:47 GMT 1, the 15 banksy towers represent the 15 watch towers that surrounds the city of bethlehem, given that you can only get these at Santas Ghetto in, yes Bethlehem, they are very poignant symbols of what the object of Santas Ghetto was about - of course, I am not expert, this is just my opinion and what they represent I fully understand that, but as pieces of art they do nothing for me at all
Exactly. The context I can fully appreciate, but as a piece of art I don't think I would pay money for one. But thanks for at least attempting to justify your appreciation of this souvenir, Alsbabar

I get what they represent, but not there artistic value. Each to their own.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by thekiller on Mar 16, 2008 18:29:08 GMT 1, what do you all think of the towers being modified? i heard from a friend that one of the towers has been passed onto 2/3 other artists to 'enhance'. be interesting to know how people think it might alter the value

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Hoops on Mar 16, 2008 23:30:34 GMT 1, Quote: When have you EVER seen anything purchased direct from Source go for less than what was paid for it.... End Quote
Quote : You haven't been around much have you. " End quote
Maybe I should have mentioned I was talking about buying BANKSY`S direct from source ......as we are on a banksy forum and on a thread regarding Banksy`s work I took it for granted that you would understand that I was talking about Banky`s work.
I can only think of 1 or 2 times in the last 5 years that Banksy`s pieces have ever sold for less than what you would have paid for them ( and I am talking about twice back in 2004 )
All that matters to me DJT is that I have been dealing and collecting Banksy`s since 2003 , I was also officially registered with POW and was buying at trade prices ....This was in the good old days when people could actually look at the work and take there time over purchasing the work before deciding if they actually liked the work. I have probably dealt and sold in excess of 300 banksy pieces and have always tried to help other collectors and advise them on the many questions that I have been asked over the years .
And If you ignore the purchase price Can you honestly say that you wouldnt be gutted that you could have DOUBLED your money again or made an extra ยฃ25K just by knowing the market you are dealing with rather than listening to someone who quite clearly doesnt.
Yes I have a Tower and I have no problem with people who dont like it...........Art is very subjective and to me it ties in with my trip to Bethlehem.
How many people would you guess made that trip to bethlehem ? compare that to how many fans Banksy has .........And then maybe you will realise that perhaps the first auction was very restricted .
Anyway as i have stated before I am an art snob in the sense that I am more than happy to own a piece that I love which only a very limited number of other people have
I am actually happy if it never goes up in value as that would mean that I would still have it, The problem I find is that if something jumps up so high in value that you start to question if you really can afford to have ยฃ75K on your walls when you have debts or other things that you could spend it on.................... Although it is a very nice position to be in I can quite honestly say that I loved my Canvas , It has always been on my walls and was on my baby boys bedroom wall for the first 2 years of his life. When it suddenly became worth silly amounts of money then i questioned the above and so sold it...........If it was only worth below ยฃ5k then I could have swallowed that and kept the image .
I suppose everyone has there price and mine got hit but by selling it I have acknowledged the fact that I will probably never own a canvas by Banksy again.

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Michael Jacob on Jan 9, 2008 16:30:58 GMT 1, i thought is was just a gun (real looking) mounted in a shadow box. It would have been actual size, so not that big. Ive got an idea for a piece, but dont want to copy something thats already been done. I do remember the coffin piece, I really liked that.

You don't mean the shot-up action man figures at the last SG do you?

Banksy's Santas Ghetto Bethlehem, by Michael Jacob on Jan 9, 2008 17:29:49 GMT 1, seidbereit, Im wrapping up print #2 this week. Im packaging them up this weekend, and mailing out Monday the 14th. Im still working on the Happy Meal boxes. Its close but not there yet. Ive got a little sculpture like thing im playing with at the moment. Im also working on the print after the happy meal boxes. While its not totally unique in execution, I think it will be great!.
G, Thanks for the photos! +1
