Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by sapi on Apr 18, 2021 20:50:42 GMT 1, Has anyone found out how much is the price of this one ? Months ago, asking was 70k €. I've seen it live and it's really amazing. Published in the book “Il nulla” weird - my memory is this was originally listed at around $45,000. Artsy lets you sort by price and if i do that, this work is in the $25,000-50,000 range (www.artsy.net/artist/blu/works-for-sale?price_range=25000-50000)
*Artsy shows two Blu works over $50,000 (www.artsy.net/artist/blu/works-for-sale?price_range=50000-%2A), one which is listed €40,000-50,000 range (and must be €42,000+ to push it to over $50,000)
while this is clearly a unique drawing by Blu - which is the top of his market as far as i can tell - and was included in his zine (Il nulla), i believe it is not one of his better drawings: (1) it was not the basis of a mural (and i believe his sketches for his murals, and maybe also for his videos, are his most collectible works); (2) it does not include the iconic Blu style (where a bunch of small things pile up into a big thing); (3) it is not clearly political (at least to me); & (4) it would be unpleasant to live with (at least for most people - with 7 billion + humans on Earth, it likely has a niche). i believe a unique variant of Rennes, Demos, or Headquarters, or one of the etchings, would be a better acquisition (and the price of this should impact the price of those, which appears to be true for the asking price of the Headquarters UV)

I agree with everything. But I was told this price verbally when I visited the gallery exhibiting it. They have probably lowered their prices.

The gallery is asking €40k. In my opinion, it should be priced more around the €20k-25k mark given size of the artwork, subject matter, and medium. I think the 10X approach from print valuations would square with my valuation more accurately as well.

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by samo on Apr 30, 2021 14:58:08 GMT 1, Where did you find it?!! Super!
A Megunica flipbook was sold on ebay last February. That's the only information I could find about it.
More info about Megunica can be found here:
You can read in the Megunica blog that there where plans to release Megunica on DVD and a book about the film. The book would feature some writing, drawings that Blu and Lorenzo Fonda (the director) did while travelling South America, photos of all the walls painted and pictures of nice landscapes.
Unfortunately the release of a DVD and the book never got off the ground.
For people interested you can watch Megunica on-demand on Vimeo:

thanks for posting. megunica.org has a Blu interview (from Swindle) where he notes on working with galleries (before he quit the commercial art world altogether): "When working with galleries or museums I always try to paint public pieces on the outside of the galleries. For me, this is the main task, and the exhibition is only an excuse in order to show and eventually to sell some drawings, which are not much other than sketches of what I make on the walls. My exhibitions are very simple and quite ugly in comparison with the work I do in the street." (link)
for me, this reinforces the idea that Blu's best drawings and prints are the sketches for the iconic murals (they are the way to collect related to those murals, similar to how folks interested in performance art collected authorized photographs of the performances back in the day)
coincidentally, i noticed someone selling Blu's 2010 DVD (signed/edition of 100) for £1000 on artsy (link)

looks like a damaged one sold earlier this month on ebay (best offer accepted on asking price of $25) (link). it has a nike advert on the inside cover and looks like it was a promo giveaway from their showing of megunica in LA (i guess as effort to get proper distribution of the documentary)

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by sapi on Apr 30, 2021 20:21:38 GMT 1, looking further into megunica.org (as tipped from the blu framed thread), they have another interview with Blu from 2008 in Garage Magazine, where he explains his feelings on the art market at the time:
"B[lu]: The thing is rather strange and amusing: on the one side you paint things in the streets, often illegally, that may get covered in a couple of days; on the other side little drawings are sold at incredible prices. It is all a big speculative game where virtual products, emotions or ideas are auctioned. The interesting thing is that you create value from absolute nothing, you do not need to dig mines for gold since artists are the raw material. With urban art the game is even more interesting because in a certain sense artists break off with many institutions that have been essential in promoting arts; producing your work of art in the streets for free you reach your public directly and it is the public who decides how good an artist is. Obviously there are also galleries, museums and auctions, that is the comercial side of the question. But even here sometimes things turn upside down: often it was the artists who had to look for places where to show their works while now it is the places that want to get street art. As in any other business the art market is full of jackals but at least we don’t produce weapons nor poisons. As far as regards my personal case, to sell art allows me to go on painting in the streets: there I sell and here I give away. I prefer this solution than working for pubblicity as most creative artists do." (link)

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by gerryp on May 11, 2021 21:16:52 GMT 1, Hi I was given a Rennes print about 10-15 years ago and have no idea of the current value. Does anyone know of another one coming to market in the last 12 months and if so, what it went for ? All help greatly appreciated. Many thanks Gerry

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by Fast Eddie on May 11, 2021 21:33:59 GMT 1, There is very little price data on this one & the Blu market is ultra thin, but one of the best images of the batch in my modest opinion.

Blu 🇮🇹 Bologna Street Art • Print Release • Art For Sale, by qkz on May 12, 2021 16:17:09 GMT 1, I stumbled upon this magazine from 2010 ( CANICOLA n.9 ) in which there are several sketches by Blu and other artists. Seems to be still available for those interested
