Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by spirit on Apr 18, 2008 12:39:41 GMT 1, Thanks for posting that again SC - still one of my favourite pieces of animation ever. I love the way that his animation interacts with the environment (the long tongue sucking papers off the wall etc). I think someone posted a thread yesterday with a picture of BLU starting work on the outside of the Tate Modern so hopefully we will get some more pics of the work in progress soon. He is without doubt one of the most naturally gifted artists out there....
PS lovin my print SC thanks!

i have to say i disagree on this. ok it's a lot of money for a drawing. but dude.
it's one of the VERY few originals around by this artist. he's not releasing 34 canvases in 26 color ways. and if you really look around there are surely less then 50 drawings by blu around. this means, that true, you're paying it alot. but it's really worth it. 'cause it's a real effort by the artist, and noone else will have it or a similar one.
plus, when i think about his art, and i really go deep in his drawings and walls, i think that money really cant relate well with how amazing it is. a nick walker print could be sold for thousands gbp. an original drawing by blu stay on laz website for months. some other weird new artist prints sold out in 2 minutes, maybe 150 gbp each, blu prints did not sell out at all, costing 200 gbp.
honestly, i dont get it. there is something else behind this whole machine and i'm pretty sure i can say it's about market. nothing more.
in that position, i would sell my originals for three times that price. so that if people REALLY wants them, it means that they really like it. and not that they're looking for some cheap deal to make some bucks after few years.
hope my english worked fine. sorry if i sounded rude, i really dont mean it and i have nothing bad to say about nick walker work. i like it.
just my thoughts about blu

BLU is one of the greatest street artist in europe, IMO. He has been around for years and I think you cannot compare his career with alot artist of the urban art scene. He does not need forums, was not build through the internet, POW or the Shoreditch area. If you were looking for an original, let's say A3 size, before his POW release you could have easily picked up something for about GBP 500 that time. He is one of the really true street artists, not mr. photoshop making quick cash.

Blu ๐ฎ๐น Bologna Street Art โข Print Release โข Art For Sale, by daz205 on Apr 18, 2008 18:06:44 GMT 1, i think that the one over riding factor with blu`s originals not sell ( for me at least ) are there size they are very small and yet blu`s work is always huge ( something the studiocromie prints manages to capture but the pow ones dont ) Why does he not do canvas/sketches that are a comparable size to the street pieces, obviously not full size as my walls aint big enought but something larger would be a step in the right direction imo.

Maybe he is not much interested in making canvas works for ppl's living rooms. Same with Os Gemeos. I think large canvas works by BLU would sell in seconds, but it's not always about making money.

you got it.
plus, about the video... he can do those things in just three or four days.
yes, he is a legend. i'm not trying to hype him because i'm working with him. but i truly believe in what he is doing. i know his works since long, living in italy (bologna in particoular) i've been seeing how his work has been developing and i have to say i'm truly amazed.
in my honest opinion, there is just one name in the street art (or public art) that could stay in the same category. that name is in the title of this forum.
but then again, just my point of view.
