There was another thread talking about someone being the next Banksy.......no no no, THIS is the boy to watch if any. imo Blu contributes massively to the progression of street art. He's been on an animation trip for some time. I wonder if he's back on the big (sorry gigantic) street pieces. Yipeee if so! although the wall animations are equally enjoyable.

That's part of what makes him special in my eyes as there's very little of the smoke and mirrors hype about him without endless gallery shows and print releases avoiding the commodification of this artwork which is the major element that really makes me sad about a lot of the street art scene.
It seems that there's endless chatter going over the same ground again and again about print releases and shows but a disproportionate lack of the amount of conversation about work on the streets which really points to the fact that all lot of people are looking to make a fast buck off the back of it and gain entry into a cliquey elite that goes against the ethos of what this art scene used to eschew.
Blu's work and passion speaks for itself without a horde of press agents in disguise, investors and hangers on talking it up in order to bump up prices and is a breath of exterior fresh air that's not to be found in some stuffy gallery.

Also I love the way he pulls no punches in the concepts he deals with and for that I really admire him. Epecially liking the Bogota pieces!

Each month they invited artists such as Blu and Fumakaka and commentators such as Martha Cooper. I also gave a talk in August as part of the project.
The guys did a great job, with supporting exhibitions and talks etc.
