There are many pieces that went for WAY over current secondary prices and many that are currently available on ebay and elsewhere for a fraction of the closing price. I am a big Chevrier fan, but ~$9k+ for this print is just ridiculous.

Simply because she paints the same type of stuff that fits in between Warhol and Lichtenstein and has stuck with this type of image making for quite a while now.
I agree that the price for a print seems high and take with a pinch of salt (or is it cocaine in Hollyweird land) these high prices which can be easily bid up by people with vested interests.

This result means nothing. 90% of her originals at her last two shows didn't cost that much!
That being said... if anyone is interested in this piece at $8970, I would love to sell it to you.

Charity auctions are always going to be a bit strange though, as for some people it's the donation that's important not what they take home.

I too am a huge Chevrier fan but it took me a while to realize it was a charity auction, making this more of a symbolic gesture, not a sign of the real value of the print.
So Kudos to whoever paid those money!

but didn't some of her originals sell between $12k - $20k at Art Basel Miami?
are her Context original prices set lower than that?
I only own one print of hers (the XL cages released at Swizz' no commission show) but I would like to snag a few more before prices start shooting through the roof haha
