Street Art Banksy & Co. Exhibition, by Daniel Silk on May 7, 2016 16:11:15 GMT 1, www.bolognawelcome.com/en/events/complete-calendar/params/Eventi_3508/ref/Street%20Art%20-%20Banksy%20%26%20Co.
STREET ART - BANKSY & CO. Palazzo Pepoli - Museo della Storia di Bologna 18 March - 26 June 2016 The social and cultural phenomenon of the urban graffiti has gained a special importance in the contemporary creativity. The works by artists such as Banksy have invaded the major cities in the world, and since the 1980s Bologna has asserted itself as a reference point for many artists too: from Cuoghi Corsello to Blu, from Dado to Rusty have chosen Bologna for leaving their mark on the walls. The exhibition Street Art - Banksy & Co. is featuring this kind of art, its evolution, wholeness and spectacularity, at Palazzo Pepoli - Museo della Storia di Bologna from 18 March to 26 June. On this occasion, the collection of the American painter Martin Wong - donated to the Museum of the City of New York in 1994, arrives in Italy for the first time. Therefore, the exhibit is a special opportunity to admire the works by the most famous American graffiti writers and street artists, like Dondi White, Keith Haring and Lady Pink. Organized by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio in Bologna, Genus Bononiae. Musei nella città and Arthemisia Group, the exhibit aims to explain the cultural value and the artistic interest of street art, in order to start considering the principles and methods of preservation and conservation of these forms of art. For the first time, Street Art - Banksy & Co. presents the influences that street art had and still has on the visual arts, passing through that aesthetic which was born in New York in the 1970s as the result of the passion for lettering and name writing of young people living in the city suburbs. On show the works by authors connected with the graffiti writing and street art, in order to create the similarities between the different productions and to explain how the society has acknowledged them. The art heritage is the protagonist of this original exhibition at Palazzo Pepoli, whose inner court recreates a kind of city corner, an ideal place where to tell an important step of Bologna history.
Street Art - Banksy & Co. is curated by Luca Ciancabilla, Christian Omodeo and Sean Corcoran. Further information and updates on www.genusbononiae.it and www.mostrastreetart.it

Street Art Banksy & Co. Exhibition, by Peter Bengtsen on May 7, 2016 19:06:57 GMT 1, Yes, looks like a lot of work went into it. However, as previously discussed on here, the inclusion in the show of works by Blu removed from the street is the reason that the artist buffed all his remaining works in Bologna.
Some thoughts on it here.

Street Art Banksy & Co. Exhibition, by shygetshigh83 on May 7, 2016 20:47:58 GMT 1, Yes, you're right Peter. And I'm very sorry about Blu reaction.. but he have his reason to do it.. to my eyes maybe too drastic, and Insay that cuz now my coty doesn't looks like before..
Anyway, the show is made by 95% of legit awesome works from private collection. Forgot to mention the upper floor dedicated to the master of graffity 80-90's movement like Haring,Rammelzee,Futura etx..nice!

Street Art Banksy & Co. Exhibition, by 11 on May 7, 2016 21:06:22 GMT 1, This isn't the Andipa show then either?
Lots of Banksy in Italy right now. I'm unsure what to make of this show as I have a lot of respect for Blu and in taking a stand and supporting the artist a lot of other people are now also being prosecuted. We seem to be losing site of real street art and are being spoon-fed sterile curated walls / hoardings. A very well known artist who had a recent pop-up show was telling me that he hasn't seen any decent street-art in London for years as it has been taken over by profiteers curating walls for street art tours....or shows like this.
Blu simply took back what he gave as he doesn't want to see work meant for the street to end up in the gallery and now he's and others are prosecuted for it - it is all immensely hypocritical and we really should be supporting artists like Blu who remain true to the whole sub-culture of street-art

This.... not eloqeunt enought to say how how true, accurate and succinct this post is about street art in 2016. I want to but just end up repeating what's said above. Obviously it won't change anything and there'll be a long sad decline, but the positive angle is when more and more people realise they're being taken for a tide maybe something positive will happen.

Do you know the reaction of this forum? Utter indifference. This place has never been about 'true' street art it is the offspring of an eBay forum - it's about money. why do you think all I do is buy and sell here?

Well said mate. Just look at all the price check threads! It's up to us though. And those of you that posting pictures of street art and shows are doing their bit. Keep it up.

Street Art Banksy & Co. Exhibition, by Deleted on May 8, 2016 0:15:02 GMT 1, never really thought about it
I live out in the sticks in Kent, and we don't have people with spray cans here (no cows have been tagged) so when i go into London and see all the tags thats what I like
The pretty pictures are also nice
Sweettoof nails it .... when i am on the train you can kind of follow him in to London town.
I like tags, dont know why, just do, mad tags up real high, like 'how the fuck did that get there' thats dedication, and all the tag wars,
Other stuff is pretty sterile, like an advert for the artist which i guess is fair enough, pretties up the area, oh and I never got the toaster dude, what were they about? very prolific though, so good job i suppose
Humorous stuff and funny quotes that sometimes make me think is my favourite, and what brought me here in the first place
I am also rather partial to sticky googly eyes stuck on things, always brings a smile
