Token system...? Ah man! I was looking forward to wandering around and just purchasing some art if I saw something I liked. Queuing for tokens sucks! I get why they do it, but it just becomes a pain in the ass. Might have to re-think my plan of going down...

Anyone able to pick up an eelus for me who is going ? Can offer a trade or cash as compensation .

artrepublic’s annual Art Yard Sale is back for the third year running on Sunday 14th May 2017 and it’s going to be bigger and better than it’s ever been!

With a collection of exciting artists taking part, producing live commissions and selling their creations direct to the public, this is not an event to be missed.

Jubilee Square will be transformed into a village of market stalls, and visitors will have the chance to meet the artists and experience a showcase of incredible artistic skill and talent. The event also presents a unique opportunity to pick up covetable original artworks at bargain prices.

Confirmed artists include Ben Eine, Eelus, Roy’s People, Donk, Pure Evil, Carrie Reichardt, Dan Hillier, Magnus Gjoen, Maria Rivans, Bonnie & Clyde, Copyright, Gemma Compton, Graham Carter, Sara Pope, Joe Webb, Carne Griffiths, Ryan Callanan, Richard Berner, Shuby, Louise McNaught, Martin Vareness-Cooke, Shuby, Eddy Bennett, Joseph Vass, Req, Mark Hooley and Dave White.

Dave White won’t be joining us in person but we will have a fantastic original water original available to win in a raffle on the day with all the money raised being donated to charity.

A separate queuing system will be in place for popular artist Eelus after the huge demand last year to ensure you get a chance to meet Eelus and buy some of his work. You can also exchange your money for artrepublic money at our Brighton Gallery from 9am on the day.

The Art Yard Sale will take place from 11am-5pm on Sunday 14 May at Jubilee Square, Jubilee Street, Brighton, BN1 1GE.

I'm so over queueing these days... so queueing twice, for the money, then for what you want to buy sounds like a massive pain in the arse!

is the fake money so that the gallery guarantee to make their % on every sale?

or is there another reason?

 

I think it's that, but also probably works like a casino. Once you have changed your money into tokens, it doesn't feel like you are handing over your hard earned cash. It's then easier to throw your tokens at any old tat you come across. Spend, spend, spend.

Loads of cash floating about on the stalls, also easier for AR to take their cut and to stop under counter sales that AR would lose out on.

You can exchange money throughout the day however after 11am you can only exchange your money at the Art Yard Sale stall rather than at the gallery.

I'm going to try and go, just popped into Art Republic and they showed me DW's latest tiger print so new it has not been numbered or signed yet. Really incredible no photo could do it justice !
