Os Gemeos advice, by Happy Shopper on May 26, 2016 10:40:21 GMT 1, Archive materials, UV protection glass... non reflective probably. The rest is up to you.
I always float mount, so no chance of uneven discolouration (as UV is not perfect)

Os Gemeos advice, by mla on May 27, 2016 3:13:26 GMT 1, If you do float the print, make sure you use someone competent who knows how to do traditional Japanese hinges with wheat starch paste. Many framers use tape and it's a pain in the ass to remove when you want to unframe and can damage your artwork.

Os Gemeos advice, by singo369 on May 27, 2016 9:08:22 GMT 1, I went to a framers yesterday and they said to frame it with a mount, only 3 small pieces of conservation tape at the top to hold it in place and the mount and backing board with also be acid free. The glass will be non reflective UV. Does this sound correct? Personally I prefer seeing prints mounted because I feel they look tidy but this is an expensive print and of course I want to enjoy it and not worry about it

Os Gemeos advice, by singo369 on May 27, 2016 12:43:42 GMT 1, I've said I prefer it to be floated etc , if I opt for this and float it without it being stuck down to anything ie using corners for the print to sit in? Although it might not sound appealing it wouldn't in my opinion draw away from the beauty of the print would it?

As a collector and Framer I would strongky reccomend asking questions assure they will float your piece using japanese hing tape so it can be easily removed or and when that time should ever come, this will leave little to no damage if done properly and keep the integrity of the print in tact about 99% also of spensing the money its expensive but I alwaya opt for materpiece acrylic, its shatter proof, scratch proof for the most part, is aboit 90% non glare and allows for all colors and details to be seen withoit any disruption to image and most importantly anything framed in masterpuece acrylic is 100% insurable and covered based on your art insurer or rider. Any prints over $5k are worth a $700 frame job trust me, going cheap. In the end will make you regret it and always remeber presentation is secondary with framing primarily what your paying for os conservation/preservation first then aesthitic and diaplay second.
Hope that helps.

Os Gemeos advice, by singo369 on May 27, 2016 16:57:48 GMT 1, Thank you dark city, it's very confusing because the framer I took it too keep suggesting that I don't float it and that it is it's attached using 3 t-hinges on top of the print, so the print would be taped slightly in 3 places onto an acid free board then mounts add on top. As mentioned the glass he's recommended is uv non reflective.

Find a new framer would be my advice.

I wpuld avoid this framer, he is looking for a cost effective short cut.. This print also has deckled edges so woth that sajd a simple flaot with a slight orange/red background at about 0.5" with a white frame will bring this piece to life beautifully. As others suggested use masterpiece acrylic if thats to costly use masterpiece glass, do not use anuthing less then this and assure that thw right himges are used so tbe print can bw easiky removed if needed.
Not sure where your located but id be happy to send references. Always ask questions thats the most inportant thing to do.
Hope that helps but feel free to ask any other questions.
