From a old Vw forum I used to doss about on..........never had any problems as those are the rules and everybody knew them and they stuck.
Items For Sale - NON AUTO
If you have any T-shirts, used dogs . . . in fact anything non auto to sell - check in here. Private sales only please. Commercial and 'regular' sellers, please take a banner advert or become a Member Sponsor and support the site before running your 'business' or 'just selling' through VZi. VZi Classifieds were originally set up as a 'free to use' facility for the members who contribute with threads and replies in the Mech Tech, Chat and Readers Rides forums etc. As VZi has got bigger, we see more and more new Members who ONLY ever post in the Classifieds and contribute nothing (neither monetary nor in content) to the forums. This is fine, however to use our facility this way you will need to become a Member Sponsor. Become a Member Sponsor here. Please read the sticky threads BEFORE posting - it may save you time in the long run. Forum available for sponsorship
Default IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING OR BUYING
Some advice for EVERYONE/ANYONE buying . . . BEFORE parting with any cash . . .
Please be advised, all buyers and sellers should satisfy themselves that the other party is genuine by providing the following via PM to each other after negotiations are complete and prior to dispatching goods and making payment:
1) Landline telephone number. Make a call to check out the area code and number are correct too!
2) Name and address including postcode.
3) Valid e-mail address (no disposable addresses such as @gmail or @yahoo for example).
We suggest you DO NOT proceed with a deal until you are completely satisfied with all details being correct. It's in your best interest to check out these details yourself.
Also PLEASE ASK FOR REFERENCES IN THE BUYERS/SELLERS FEEDBACK FORUM
www.volkszone.com/VZi/forumdisplay.php?f=59A genuine Buyer or Seller won't be offended at you checking them out.
PAYPAL
If paying through PayPal we strongly recommend that you do not pay using the 'gift' option as you will have zero recourse. Again, we refere you to points 1), 2) & 3) above.
A couple of rules to abide by in the For Sale/Wanted Forums...
4) STUFF THAT WILL GET YOUR AD DELETED
COMMERCIAL/REGULAR SELLERS - please take a banner advert or become a Member Sponsor and support the site before running your 'business' (even part-time business) through VZi. If you're obviously a 'trader' type, your ad(s) will simply get deleted. Please contact the forum's admin. prior to posting to see what is required - it will save a lot of messing about and bad feelings AFTER your ad(s) have been deleted and you take it all personally. It's NOT personal, it applies to all.
All ads MUST have a PRICE and LOCATION - ads without this will simply be deleted. The word 'Offers' will not be considered suitable as a 'Price'
Blind Ebay links or just blind links to another thread on another forum will not be tolerated, ads for ebay auctions should include the full ad description (copy and paste the ebay copy) and include the starting price or reserve price. To aid potential buyers, please include a full link to the auction not just the auction number. You CAN post the url link in your ad, but NOT just on its own. Please treat other VZi'ers with respect. Please take the time to make your VZi ad as descriptive as possible.
And NO . . . your ad is not different or special these rules/guidelines apply to EVERYONE.
'BUMPING'
If your ad has interest, people will reply. Do not 'ttt' your thread more than once a day. Threads that are just constantly bumped or TTT'd by the seller/OP will have those replies removed and if it continues, the thread will be locked or deleted.
We're not Nazis - we're just looking out for ALL of VZi (there is a big picture, take five to step back and appreciate it)
5) THE PERFECT 'FOR SALE' AD
Lots of threads on here could be crafted a little better and would in most cases get more interest and prevent a lot of timewasting.
OK, we'll start from the top:
Thread title: Please type something descriptive and relevant to what you're selling. Also, if the vehicle is on ebay, PLEASE put [ebay] in the thread title.
Bad examples:
'cheap car!!!!1!!'
'golf for sale'
'blue vw estate, low mileage'
Good Examples:
'FS: 1978 Bay window, was orange now in primer, twin slider'
'On Ebay: 1986 golf cab, black'
'Cheap Daily: Rover 216si, ratty blue paint, not been to the moon'
a good title will help your thread stand out. One point, the forum code DOES NOT WORK in thread titles. So try to make your title BOLD it just ends up looking like a 'tard posted it.
Thread Content:
Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!
Post pictures in your thread. This will stop the hundreds of 'Picture Hunters' who probably have no intention of buying, but just want to collect images on their computer.
To post pictures
Just go to 'Attach Files' and click the 'Manage Attachments' button when making a post. Size(s) are limited so please ensure your pics are a sensible size BEFORE attaching.
However, there is a comprehensive step by step guide with ALL the info you need to link to pics etc.here:
www.spiny.co.uk/vzifaq/Take as many pics as you can. Take pics of the bad bits (if there are any) so people have a good idea of what they might spend their time going to view.
Details: put as much info as you can think of - theres no character limit on a post (well, there is but you won't reach it) more details equals more potential buyers.
If you list mods, take pics! 'phat' stereo? link to the manufacturers website so people can see what the headunit looks like for example.
Is it drivable? Is it a rolling shell? or just unsafe/illegal to drive on the road - let people know they will/might/can chance it/ need a trailer.
Paperwork: Is it all there? same with keys. little details help Find the docs before you put it up for sale!
Hopefully this will help you get only genuine replies to your post and a quicker sale.
ADDITIONAL RULES
6) NO THREADJACKING
If someone is selling something don't hijack the thread and say 'I've got one of them for sale you can have etc' If you do your post will be removed or deleted. If you have something for sale then put up your own for sale ad.
ALSO IMPORTANT - Telling the seller his vehicle/parts is/are 'not worth the money' or are 'shit' will get you a red card. If you're not interested in buying - please don't comment - save the chit-chat for Chat/Discussion. If your inane chat in Classifieds is reported - you may well receive an official warning.
7) KEEP ADS IN THE CORRECT PLACE
Don't post wanted ads in the for sale area etc.
8) ADDITIONAL INFO ABOUT ITEMS FOR SALE
If you have genuine information relating to something that is for sale which is being mis-sold then you may put that information onto the posting, but stick to the facts and if there are any comments that appear to be malicious they will be removed.
9) OFF TOPIC / ABUSE ON THREAD
If it is kicking off on a thread then please click on the button that says report this post to a moderator. I do my best to keep an eye on things, but sadly I'm not quite omnipresent (just yet).
10) ONE AD PER SUB FORUM
Thats right...
1 in the Vehicles For Sale
1 in the Auto Items For Sale
1 in the Non-Auto Items For Sale
If you don't abide by this you'll notice they get merged and then you'll have trouble reading through the replies. If your thread has been merged and you would like to replace it then please PM a moderator asking for it to be locked and you can create a new thread but please do it properly!
11) FREECYCLE SUB-FORUM
NO WANTED ADS
Include your location when offering stuff.
Posts will be left open for 4 weeks, after which they'll be locked.
Do let us know when they've gone.
Items offered must be FREE.
12) NO WEAPONS
No weapons including, but not exclusive to, shotguns, air rifles, swords and knives etc are to be advertised and or sold through VZi.
13) NO V5s or V5/FLOORPAN COMBOS
VZi does not condone 'ringing'. This isn't a discussion point as to what is or isn't legal. Please don't offer them for sale on here or ask for them to be supplied.
14) NO 'TESTING THE WATER'/'WHAT'S MY CAR (OR PARTS) WORTH' THREADS
15) When you want to change details in your ad
You no longer need a mod to edit a post in any of the classified forums.
Please use the edit button and edit your own post. However, you WILL need a Mod to edit your thread title should you choose to change it. Therefore, we suggest you DON'T put prices (that may change later) in your thread title.
16) When your item is sold.
As you no longer need a mod to edit a post in any of the classified forums, you can edit your ad and add the words SOLD to it or select the [SOLD] prefix so that it shows as sold in the list of threads.
When you edit your ad, click on 'go advanced' to change the prefix.
VZi members HATE ads without prices. So, if you're genuinely unsure what your vehicle (or parts) are worth, please use the 'Dude! What's My Car Worth?' forum here:
www.volkszone.com/VZi/forumdisplay.php?f=72Thanks for your Co-operation. Help make VZi a better place for all.
