POPEYE toy mold from the Warhol Estate, by Art commonsewer on May 30, 2016 19:40:05 GMT 1, I displayed it like a sculpture below my art and it looked great. Andy Warhol died in 1987 and in 1988 the Warhol foundation had a 10 day auction at Sotheby's selling off the contents of "The Studio"... this item was originally sold in that auction. It is an industrial mold for a rubber or vinyl toy Popeye head. The inside is where all the finer detail is. Andy collected loads of items like this looking for inspiration for his art. Did he use it for his "Saturday's Popeye" painting in 1960?? Maybe thats why the painting has no facial detail! He use to photograph and project images for tracing... so although it's possible we will never know.
PM me with an offer and further details. I'm am the second owner or it.
