My view is that all Migrants from any country in the World should be treated equally, and that migrants from the EU should not be given any type of special priority.
As Banksy highlights in his comment, Steve Jobs father was a Migrant from Syria.

He got an American woman pregnant out of wedlock and abandoned her and Steve Jobs was adopted by the Jobs family, if Jobs was not adopted by the Jobs family he would not have met Wozniak and created apple together.
Basically Banksy statment about jobs is meaningless and the image of Jobs used cos Jobs is a famous person whose father was Syrian so convenient to use it regarding todays Syrian refugees.
Migrants is a generic term so withregard to EU and non EU migrants. Meaning to me people who migrate from one country to another and enter the country through legal means and passport control and who have the means to support themselves. Makes no difference to me.
The terms used by Sky News regarding the Albanians and people smugglers washed up in Kent as "desperate migrants" is fashionable or so it seems. They are really illegal immigrants. Otherwise they would have entered the UK legally and not at night clandestinely.
If for hypothetically example a European country had an agenda advertise for millions of people to enter their country and issue them passports and free lawyers in order to change the status quou of a neighbouring country for malicious reasons or personal ideological reasons. I see nothing wrong with a neighbouring country saying no to them.
Tony Blair and that Mandelson wanted to change the face of Britain in order to keep their Labour party in power.
Migration is good when it's done by people who migrate to another country because the country they migrate to has values they want to be part of not has values they can take advantage of.
The UK has migrants from it's former colonies and also from Europe. As long as all those migrants are treated equally and behave equally. Things should work out fine.
Some are good and some are bad. Deal with the bad ones and let the good ones carry on.

I'm curious too, to see if one day tens of thousands of migrants arrive in the Vatican city and demand to live there. How accomodating the Pope and his Vatican hierarchy will be to accept tens of thousands. It's not as if the Vatican can't afford it.
It's all good as long as we don't turn a blind eye to wrong doing and say it's not our concern.

I am certain that's not the case for everyone but to presume that if someone is successful they must be taking advantage of people is a cruel and really wrong.

If you bomb your way across the globe, raping whole cities and regions of their resources in order to prop up an obviously failing neo liberal system that benefits the few whilst depriving people of their ability to make a living. How can you act surprised when they come asking for help. Can you not understand what it must be like ? to get in a rusting hulk with your family and children and attempt to flee a war to safety across the ocean ? how many dead floating babies do we have to see before we say enough. The UK has taken in 216 people under the Syrian Vulnerable Persons Relocation scheme. The UK has taken what ? 5000 ? The second largest economy in Europe. Arms sales of billions to the middle east. A days trade would pay for those 5000. I just don't undrestand how the general public can be against helping these people. What exactly is it they're afraid of ? |

I don't recall the UK or Europe starting the civil war in Syria and regardless of that, of course Syrian refugees should be allowed safe haven in Europe. Plus Europe has to be very vigilant regarding vetting and not allowing in Europes enemies. There are quite a few.

If you mean economic migrants, there are already visa agreements in place for people outside of the EU.
