Pejac show London "Law of the Weakest" 22-31 July, by nandaman on Jul 24, 2016 19:17:31 GMT 1, Damn. I wish I could have been able to make this. My vote for show of the year. Cool stuff. I have Seppuku, but none of the others. The PDF for originals was out of my price range. Amazing stuff. Love it. Not sure about Linea - I think I'd like it in the flesh, but not sold on the lenticular trend.

Pejac show London "Law of the Weakest" 22-31 July, by Deleted on Jul 24, 2016 20:45:41 GMT 1, Anyone know the meaning behind the print? I guess it's to make people think about mass consumerism versus the environment and naturel habitat.
Sort of if I buy this print am I conributing to the destruction of a forest etc. Or along those lines.
Pejac is certainly gifted thats for sure and his art raises questions.

Pejac show London "Law of the Weakest" 22-31 July, by caibach on Jul 24, 2016 22:01:11 GMT 1, What a superb show. Some of the photos shown on here are excellent and convey some of the beauty of the pieces. Its a shame that there has been no really good informative reviews of the show by any of the art publications. Hopefully some to come. I read the link kindly provided above directing to the Arrested motion review. How does something like that go out? One of the best pieces in the show, Tryptich, depicts a take on one of arts maserpieces, Eugene Delacroix's 'Liberty leading the people', a piece that celebrated the Paris uprising of July 1830. An incredibly appropriate and clever piece for today and simply described by the review as 'something painted on riot shields'. Brilliant.
Great post thejokerspuppet. I've been enjoying a few things on arrested motion myself recently. The riot shields that make use of Eugene Delacroix's 'Liberty Leading The People, reminded me of the work of Jamie Reid, which is quite a few years old now. Both the print 'Up They Rise', and his 'incomplete Works'. I guess great art is always going to be relevant.

The animated video with the music was all great and dramatic, but honestly the pictures have been a little underwhelming thus far. That's one good question mark and "rolled lenticular" is another one that was raised, but not addressed. Finally, I keep reading about how the show was great, but praise about how the print looks in person has been more quiet.

Pejac show London "Law of the Weakest" 22-31 July, by avec art on Jul 25, 2016 15:44:30 GMT 1, These prints are quite robust and flexible at the same time. The tubes they came in are wide, so they don't need to be tightly rolled, and they pretty much flatten out by themselves. The quality is really nice. They are also surprisingly wide. But to get the full effect you really need to walk along it. I expect at the moment, like myself, people are studying these up close, which is not the best way to appreciate a lenticular. It has a lovely sense of depth to it, while at the same time is a creative use of the medium. One of the most famous paintings in Oxford is called 'The Hunt' which I have always loved, and the perspective into the forest reminds me of that. But I understand how, if you've not actually seen it, it could be difficult to gauge. Personally I suggest if you like artists work, this is pretty exiting. Yes it is still plastic, so shouldn't be measured by the same qualities as a screen print.

Pejac show London "Law of the Weakest" 22-31 July, by eye like on Jul 25, 2016 16:34:37 GMT 1, This might be a dumb question...ok probably is...but having never framed a lenticular before what is the view as to whether you should use glass or not?
The one at the Pejac show had glass, which makes sense from a protection standpoint, but most of the lenticulars I have seen framed (Peter Blake's Eiffel tower for example) have all been done without glass. I definitely didn't think the glass helped with the overall effect of the print so I'm inclined to frame mine without, but am I taking too much of a risk? I hear they scratch pretty easy...
Any advice guys?

Pejac show London "Law of the Weakest" 22-31 July, by tranito on Jul 25, 2016 16:45:23 GMT 1, Good post Print Cave. Lenticulars aren't for everyone. Most common mistake is indeed to try to appreciate it by sticking your face an inch from it. It works with screen prints, but it ruins your appreciation of a lenticular. If you want to enjoy a lenticular for what it is, you have to be ready to enjoy it best walking past it 6 feet in front of it. It won't reward you to get closer and closer to see more details like a screen print does. Instead, it loses sharpness. But depth is very rewarding from the right distance. Glad to hear the quality is there on the Pejac. I love my Eelus NEISBAW lenticular, but it's an adaptation from other mediums.

Two photos from the show print:
You can see the effect of half the trees being chopped and half intact in this shot.

some black guy got kicked out of the queue at the door. Anyone know why? Are you sure he was black ?

Entirely correct , Bob and I'm ambivalent either way. I'm just not keen on the forum lynch mob.
