Euro 2016, by Deleted on Jun 11, 2016 22:34:53 GMT 1, Undeserved. Thought England were very very good today That's what the commenters said but I reckon it was deserved. If you don't take chances and we had plenty, you're liable to get caught. England were decent and looked promising going forward but couldn't score when it mattered. Roy should brought on Vardy rather than Milner as that might have freshened the fading attack rather than invite pressure. One question from the game is what is the point of Sterling? He's quick but utterly useless, as he can't pass, cross or shoot. He doesn't offer much protection for the full backs either.
Hoddle refered to it in the first half that at this level you need to take your chances. Sterling, you're right he's good at running in straight lines and not much more. But I did think we palyed well (maybe because of how badly I know we've been known to play) We'll still qualify for the knockouts

Euro 2016, by Deleted on Jun 12, 2016 17:02:59 GMT 1, I got the feeling it was not just Russian fans that attacked the England fans. Hence the police not making mass arrests.
Cocaine and alcohol is not a good mix if one is in the hot sunshine having a few pints.

Reports from inside the stadium from reporters and pundits was that the Russians rushed the England fans at the end of the game, they were throwing flares into the England sections. Barely any segregation between some sections. England aren't angels but on this occasion it would be 90% Russian

Euro 2016, by iamzero on Jun 12, 2016 17:17:24 GMT 1, I had one message saying some English fans were in a bar that was then filled with PSG fans all tooled up. They told them they were there to help the English fight the Marseille fans? Can't verify that one but I can tell the lad on a video doing the rounds online that got smash over the head with a chair is local to me. He's just got back after 27 stitches and a belly full of neurofen.

Euro 2016, by Deleted on Jun 12, 2016 17:56:39 GMT 1, They don't look like England or Russian fans in the video.
Knowing Marseille,
It's likely the England fans were goaded and harassed by locals who hadn't eaten all day. Then the Russian fans joined in.
Hence my point about the police not making mass arrests.

Yes, apologies I was talking about the football grounds rather than the entire country though.

From memory dude you have Russian connections and if so given the state of affairs with the Russian fans appearing to be causing a majority of the trouble, how do you think the World Cup will end up?

My son just told me that 1 in every 2000 Icelandic men between ages of 21 and 40 is in the squad!

Euro 2016, by Daniel Silk on Jun 14, 2016 21:56:55 GMT 1, Thrilling last few minutes. Was a great point for Iceland! It's really looking like the defences are much more important in this tournament than the attack. The Italy game yesterday was similar as they had a very strong defensive line and pushed up as high as they dare.
Well done Iceland!

Euro 2016, by Coach on Jun 15, 2016 13:50:03 GMT 1, Delighted to see former CPFC keeper Gabor Kiraly in gold for Hugary. First 40 year old ever to play in the tournament. And he's still wearing his tracky bottoms, which he insisted on wearing the entire time he played for us. Though we referee to them as his pyjama bottoms!

Euro 2016, by Deleted on Jun 15, 2016 14:08:18 GMT 1, I doubt Russia will be banned if their supporters cause problems.
One news report said that the reason Russians were not jailed is because the Russian diplomats quickly responded to arersts saying the French were in breach of Geneva convention by holding the Russian fans without charge.
The England supporters that were arrested should have demanded to contact the British Embassy as soon as they were arrested. Even though the French police have been known to refuse to allow Brits they arrest that very important phone call.

Euro 2016, by mutatis on Jun 15, 2016 19:09:02 GMT 1, Not quite sure how the open racism would go down when the top boy for years was Cass Pennant? Well it seems people forget then very easily. I really thought the days of "Bulldog" magazine at Upton Park would be a distant memory ... but some attitudes don't change .... "open" or otherwise. There are other grounds I could choose where I've had bad experiences. What goes on unfortunately is a reflection of society and I am realistic about that. Point being don't look at Russia when it happens in our own backyard.

They are kicking off again, tear gas being used so there won't be a game for Wales, will help them into the next stages having a bit of a rest.
