New Banksy prints., by Deleted on Jun 15, 2016 20:23:12 GMT 1, Hypothetically speaking if Banksy did ever do a public open edition print how many do you all think would need printing to meet demand? Depends entirely on the price, Dan... at £250, a hell of a lot. At £10,000... not so many
Hi Hubble hopes all is well with you and your family. I was kinda thinking that if he released a unsigned print at let's say £250 for charity. More I think about it though too much possibility of fakes hitting the market. I think I'd had a few too many beers when that question popped into my head

New Banksy prints., by Deleted on Jun 15, 2016 21:05:35 GMT 1, I haven't a clue what constitutes a VIP or gaining acceptance to a Banksy VIP list if such a list exists. I'm finding it hard to believe that there would be more than a handful of VIP's Celebrities, very rich collectors who do not resell that would be eagerly waiting for a new print from Banksy.

New Banksy prints., by Howard Johnson on Jun 15, 2016 22:45:32 GMT 1, I get the sense that banksy likes to sell on his own terms and you can't fault him for that. Likely, he has a small group of dedicated collectors who buy up VIP editions and keep quiet about it because that's part of the appeal, exclusivity. Why not take this approach if you can still sell out editions without the headache of public releases.
The only issue is from a non-VIP collector standpoint. I may be in the minority, but I take into account an artist's full body of work when making a purchase. For example, I like hirst, but I would never buy an edition because he has released so many prints that I frankly feel like you can't help but lose money in the long run. Now if your looking to buy a banksy, considering at his total known print editions it appears to worth the blue-chip pricing cause there are relatively few editions for such a well known artist. If you heavily invest in banksy prints, there's gonna be some heartache when you discover that he actually released twice as many editions 10 years down the line.
Just my two cents from an investment perspective.

££££$$$$$ = vip , recently a few vip prints gwb and the barb wire balloon have come up for sale , so point about vip collectors not reselling is not valid . even being on the vip lists are using as investments

Doesn't like the little guy re selling and getting a foot on the rung of the ladder?
To be honest anyone who says they have a VIP list is a pretentious t**t in my book.
I wonder who was behind running the price of Banksy's prints up high at auction and why?

It's all calculated and well planned , it has paid off for the artist and a few that bought at the beginning before the fame have gained Financially along the way. With out the high auction prices that lead to high print prices how many people would still be interested here in banksy ? Auction prices is seen as the justification for secondary market prices , the greater the financial value creates interest with the majority that collect banksy

New Banksy prints., by barbarabush on Jun 16, 2016 9:22:56 GMT 1, One dark night in December - I decided to stand out side marks and stencils in SOHO - Alone and then was joined by several others - a queue had formed behind me - quick jump to near mid night - and then a mad dash in taxi's to POW in Whitechapel - there in front of me was East Ends finest - my VIP's - I was then 168 in the queue. The queue was forced - the drop was not scheduled - the missus three days from giving birth to our son. The memory etched - the joy of the queue.
