Kiberg is one of the largest towns in Vardo Municipality. Kiberg lies about ten kilometers southwest of Vardo town and just south of Kiberg headland which is the easternmost point of mainland Norway.
"The Forgotten War" After the German occupation in 1940 left many of Kiberg to the Soviet Union where a total of 45 men serving in the Red Army. They were sent back to Norway to collect information about German activities in Finnmark and reported the page to Murmansk. , resulting among other things in that 80 German cargo ship was tracked down and sunk by the Soviets.
Losses and suspicion
Only 18 of the 45 who did enlist survived the war. One of these was left in Murmansk after 1945, the other 17 moved back to Kiberg, which was called "Little Moscow". Many of those who survived were suspect and monitored in the Cold War Norway.
Recognition In the summer of 1983, King Olav lay down a wreath at the memorial Kiberg for partisans.
- A great recognition of the work that Finnmark-partisans have done, and that they were willing to sacrifice their lives for our freedom, said Thorleif Utne, partisan and veteran of Kiberg
August 1992 King Harald held a speech in Kiberg where he on behalf of the nation lamented the way the Norwegian authorities treated partisans in Finnmark after the war. - Partisan story is just one example of how we have not had a full understanding of what happened in northern Norway during the war, said historian and author Kjell Fjørtoft Aftenposten in 1990.

Anyway, for 10 unique "originals" from Pøbel, I do not think that the price is high, compeared to what his prints are going for these days. But, no one should pay attention to this so that the ordinary people (like me) could have a chance of getting one, hehe

Maybe it's the "communist" hammer.. red on top etc, or...what does the sign mean, dead end ?

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by letiss on Apr 18, 2013 8:34:15 GMT 1, So would people from Finmark instantly know this symbol and it's meaning? Like others I don't really get the link to the story and it's a very high price for an artist that IMO is not that well known. Saying that I like the image but definitely not £850 like.

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by hunter on Apr 18, 2013 9:33:05 GMT 1, I too initially thought of Thor's hammer.
I guess it's the original in the photo that ties it to Kiberg. Kind of reminds me of a communist style poster - power to the people.
I like it.

The sign means dead end, certainly does in the UK anyway.

We are happy to announce that we finally got some new canvasses available from some of our artists These artworks will be available on www.ABCprinthouse.com Thursday May 9th at 14:00 CET (Norwegian time)

Designed and cut as a singel layer just like the one used outside, where every "bridge" is visible, giving the piece a more authentic look and feel. Showing Pøbel's signature cutting style in the painting itself
