Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by Deleted on Sept 24, 2013 12:10:17 GMT 1, I really like Pøbel and this image is powerful street art. Who would want it on their wall though? It's a strange choice of print release to me but I guess it must mean a lot to the artist.

Photo is from the their facebook page, I think they are choosing the right red color for the print.

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by DameHoracia on Sept 24, 2013 12:28:37 GMT 1, What's supposed to be going on there?... looks a bit sinister... especially if that's hand finishing with red splats of paint! Exactly. It sent shivers down my spine. I don't mean to be morbid but she looks like she has been (to keep it on a level) in the wars as it were. Are those her knickers on her legs? Or am I seeing something that others aren't seeing. I know art speaks to people in many ways, but really? I don't like it.
It's disturbing, so I guess it's done it's job as a piece of work. It also made me go and take a look at his other work.

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by Deleted on Sept 24, 2013 13:11:02 GMT 1, Her clothing depicts Norwegian Romantic Nationalism I guess. The piece seems to be suggesting Norwegians are getting f**ked in a far from romantic way. I hope it's not my sick mind but when I first saw the image I thought of rape.

Very similar in style to dolks work , have these two artists ever done a print or canvas together ?

The piece seems to be suggesting Norwegians are getting f**ked in a far from romantic way. I hope it's not my sick mind but when I first saw the image I thought of rape. Exactly what I thought... I'm not big on politics in Norway, but am of the impression that it's one of the wealthiest countries in the world (or strongest economies) and generally a good place to live/be born.
So what's the image saying? Do Norwegians not like foreign influences on their culture?

Something to do with 'screwing with tradition' maybe. The title of a print can often add a lot when it looks 'dubious' seen without it.

Just think it's saying that Pøbel doesn't like the way that his national culture is getting shafted.

Didn't Kiberg have to do something with world war II. Maybe this print deals with the war on the civil population? Just a thought ...

Yeah, that's sort of what I meant... but if that's the case then I wonder if it's a national issue? It's unlikely to be just Pøbel that feels that way.
If it was a UK image I'd think it was a bit UKIP / BNP (The opinion that outside influence makes our country worse... blatantly not the case.)

This is the age of globalisation.National interests do not factor into it. This is also why I love Pøbel's art. He's very political. Still couldn't have this image on my wall though.Would much rather he did (and would so love) his Polar Bear shopping for ice image as a print.

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by Happy Shopper on Sept 24, 2013 16:28:58 GMT 1, There's a subtle difference between globalisation and imigration/intergration (whatever the right word is?). It's a tricky subject. No one likes seeing every highstreet in the world looking the same, with the same shops, fast food, etc. But culture can evolve. Traditions can change, etc, etc. Not always a bad thing.

Pøbel 🇧🇻 Norway Street Art • New Print Release , by pertt on Sept 24, 2013 21:58:40 GMT 1, I believe this print primarily is for the Norwegian marked. Norwegian girls in traditional clothing is seen as pure, clean, classic, wonderful and respective sweet girls and in no way sexual by any means. Can't stress this enough. But we all know that after dark especially on the national day, this is no longer the case :-) I think Pøbel with this image challenges the natural perception of Norwegian girls in 'bunad' and yea keeps it real. I like it a lot and the fact that her face is darkened gives the image a possibility of rape which is disturbing but at the same time elevates it to another level :-) Job we'll done in my opinion !!
