Peter Blake 🏴 Pop Art • Print For Sale & Wanted, by RedHouseOriginals on Mar 5, 2011 19:30:24 GMT 1, RedHouse Originals are delighted to announce details of a dedicated solo exhibition by the “Godfather of Pop Art” Sir Peter Blake. This special exhibition will be opened by Sir Peter himself and is the first part of an exciting programme of events culminating on Saturday 12th March where the artist will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Music at Leeds University.
The exhibition will also feature the unveiling of the artist's brand new portrait and print edition featuring Ian Stewart; the legendary co-founder and pianist with The Rolling Stones. The print will be available to view and pre-order with proceeds donated to the British Heart Foundation's Mending Broken Hearts appeal. The portrait forms the artwork for Boogie for Stu; a tribute album to Stewart recorded by Stu's protégé Ben Waters and featuring contributions from The Rolling Stones and Jools Holland.
During the celebrations at Leeds University on Saturday 12th March, a tribute charity Concert for Stu will be presented by the Ben Waters Band + special guests at the Clothworkers’ Centenary Concert Hall. Concert tickets, also in aid of Mending Broken Hearts, are available via tinyurl.com/concertforstu.

I got there early and managed to get clear views of many of the pieces on display, although it got rather crowded later in the evening. I spoke a bit to one of the gallery owners, Richard, who was very excited about the show and Sir Peter's attendance.
I offer you some images of the evening, starting with the bus which was parked outside the gallery for the evening.

Please do make an effort to visit the gallery if you are in Yorkshire this month. Also there are two Henry Moore exhibits currently on in nearby Leeds at the Henry Moore Institute and the City Art Gallery (both next to each other).

Cheers to Richard and Jon at Redhouse for their hospitality on my visit to the gallery at the weekend. It's a cracking show - I'd love the heroes set too if my wallet was a tad fuller. Definitely worth a visit for any forum members based up north - my favourite show this year no question.
