Call them what you like - fake, copy, replica etc as I would be more than happy to buy the right fake.
If he did trolley hunters I would much rather have that on the wall as a £55 fake so that I could release the cash from my £800-900 pound unsigned real deal.

These are the right fakes for me.
Cannot wait to see my one framed up by Mr Frameman and on the wall.

Art Wanted, by mojjac on Jul 30, 2011 10:49:51 GMT 1, With my simpleton take on things I think that the real reason why there are some that hate these copy prints is just down to the fact that they are concerned that they could have an impact on the value of their Banksy prints ? Is there the possibility that many like their Banksy prints more for their material worth than for the image/pretty picture ?

Art Wanted, by Rolex on Aug 1, 2011 1:51:20 GMT 1, Its funny how nobody wants to buy the cheap canvases & the like on eBay, but as soon as an exact copy comes on the scene everyone wants one, clearly not just about the image then, Tell me, why don't they go the whole hog & do the blindstamp & numbering, it seems to me that as long as they have the word COPY on the back then it's legal. Then to go one step further they could do an exact copy of the COA & put the word copy on that somewhere out of sight. Then some people could really impress (fool) there friends.

For me it is about the quality. If there is a canvas version that was a real screen print or better yet a well executed spray paint version at a good price of an image I really likes I would go for it. But that is me.

-interesting rolexbanks, good stuff!... those buying may fancy deceiving "friends." Impressive indeed! Who's the fool? Having a fake may not bring what might be expected. Buyer Beware: Expect everyone will know you've got a fake, which begs the question: "why buy a crap fake when you could make your own art?" Can't wait for the next capitalist swine to jump in with rip-off "editions for fools" without the red COPY stamp. These fakes look like crap with the "idiot" stamp. -Give me a break... these suck, as do all copy fakes designed to manipulate the perceived or realized value of artwork. In this case... Banksy originals or editions (not fake) just got more valuable. Bit of an oxymoron, don't you think?

Art Wanted, by skitchy on Aug 1, 2011 11:27:55 GMT 1, I really don't see any harm in these at all... If you have always wanted to have a particular banksy print but can't afford the super inflated secondary market prices than this is a good substitute!
Its never going to be the same thing..the paper is wrong and it says copy on the back..it aint going to fool anyone/ affect the real print market.

Agreed, and as I said it much earlier in this Thread I don't think these fakes will have any impact at all on the value of the real ones... but my point is "who REALLY cares about who buy these fakes/copies ?" and "is this Forum really a place for those guys to boast about how great their fakes look ?" Personnally, I don't give a sh*t ;-)

Art Wanted, by eschiff on Aug 1, 2011 11:43:29 GMT 1, interesting read, some good points both ways.
if i were still in college i would put one of these on the walls. But now being a 'collector' it wouldn't bother me if no-one knew it was a fake, i would know. And that would bother me. But that's a personal thing ain't it?

Art Wanted, by klyde on Aug 1, 2011 12:00:25 GMT 1, Time for some of you moral fanboys to get off your high horses.
Just because I like the Turf War image and fancy sticking it on my wall doesn’t mean I’m into buying fake goods!
That’s an utterly ridiculous assumption to make.
I bought this to frame, hang and enjoy.
It’s just a bit of fun wall decoration, just like the other 3 (direct from POW) Banksys I have in my house.

Now that is interesting, as you will be able (I won't) to tell all of us (ignorant) what it feels like to have bought a fake (for decorative purpose) compared to real ones (for what purpose then ?)... I personnally didn't mean to offend you with my Post, just meant to have a bit of a laugh at those (not you then) boasting that their fakes were looking sooooooooooo great. I did say earlier that I have no problem at all with people buying fakes and could easily understand the "decorative" angle, especially for those who can't afford a real one...
Some here were arguing that those fakes would give many a first opportunity to hang a Banksy picture on their walls and then maybe save some money to later buy a real one, increasing potentially the future demand... so now it looks it could work both ways (ie. "buy real ones first and then fake copies..."). I wouldn't have thought so but hey, you just proved me wrong ;-)
