Sorry to hijack the thread but does the new issue hurt or help the original version ? its pretty confusing to see the same piece of artwork released 11 years later in a high edition. Would maybe be different if some 1 off variants were made but to re release an already high edition print would definitely be frowned upon if it were any other artist.
Besides the fact that the image makes sense (as it is timely and poignant in the wake of the end of POW), I could see this being a disappointment to someone who owns the ‘06 version. One could argue that the original will always be the original and therefore should hold a premium to the ‘17 edition. However, since the image is so close to the original upon first glance, my guess is that the pricing of the LA edition will stagnate or become a bit “softer” (unlike the color balloon variant GWBs that also came out a decade+ subsequent to the OG version). Just my two cents but either way congrats on owning the print. I’ve always liked it.

A nice 14+ month cooling off period. So no point in trying to work deals before then unless you're willing to have some type of long term deal with someone you truly trust. IMO better off hunting for pieces that are actually available. Can't even imagine where prices will be in over a year. |

Maybe me- this was the first and probably the only chance I will ever get at owning a Real Banksy- and I missed out- but I am grateful I had the opportunity and excitement that went along with it. You had the same chance as anyone else- this time around, and you were lucky enough to get an 06, can't you just be happy with that? |

I would think to get in early, but, not too early. if you can snag these around 10k - 20k IMO.. depending how bad you want it.

A) no coa so most serious collectors not interested for 1-2 years if they agree to issue one at that
B) we don't know size even lol, could be a 3x5 post card
C) other tricks are sure to come.
I also don't forsee a lot of "pump and dump" its not like these lower end artists these loser flippers go for. No one is just taking the first offer, they know what this "might" be

Hey there Mercboy - your 119th post here seems to miss the mark. I didnt say anything about not liking what i have. What I attempted to do is point out that if this were any other artist it would be largely frowned upon to re release the same artwork 10 years later. But since it is happening, why not have a conversation about the impact in general on the piece and what this means for the image of both years going forward. Other people seemed to grasp the conversation line.. sorry if it was not clear enough.
I am also curious if anyone knows if this was actually printed in 2017 - or if these were printed in 2006 and stashed away in favor of the image they released. A worthy topics of conversation in my opinion but then according to my wife and kids i am frequently wrong.

The new version is same style as 'stop & search' and 'donuts' wasn't it revelaved years ago some one else produced these drawings and it wasn't Banksy? Any of our knowledgable members confirm this?
