Futura, Fairey, Welker, MBW, by soupy on Jul 9, 2016 13:52:11 GMT 1, not sure i understand that price on the futura (especially for its size).
i'd be more inclined to just buy the entire box set.

Futura, Fairey, Welker, MBW, by Kawsisking on Jul 9, 2016 16:03:25 GMT 1, This is unethical in my view. You shouldn't suddenly release more prints outside of the editioned 100 because of increased demand for the print. You should have made the edition size larger to begin with....

Futura, Fairey, Welker, MBW, by Reader on Jul 9, 2016 16:15:32 GMT 1, "un-numbered" aka "we'll print as many as we sell to piggy-back on the success of the xx/100 print"
Futura, Martha Cooper, Sandra Chevrier, Martin Whatson, Isaac Cordal and every other person in the set donated the image and prints to help finance the Nuart festival towards getting works on the street. We raised $200 000 and invested over $50 000 of our own finance to do this. Some of the artists signed the overruns, the gallery exists to raise money for the festival. Both are not for profit.
So you'd be ..errrm, wrong. Have a wonderfully positive day ;-)

So you'd be ..errrm, wrong. Have a wonderfully positive day ;-) a) none of that changes the fact that, like someone mentioned before, overrun should have been numbered and labeled as such. the ambiguity of the most recent offering of "leftover prints" leaves the door open for RPG to print as many as they want to keep making money. Some people collect for money, some for love of art, and others, like myself; a little bit of both. I buy pieces I like but with financial considerations in mind when doing so....I don't want to shell out for something only to see it's value diluted by more and more released. without labeling/numbering who knows how many will be doled out. b) your statement never proved any of what I said to be wrong. doesn't matter where the money ends up going, this is still a grub for money...just one that can be marketed better because "oh, it's for charity." a) Just spoke to them, they're gonna print a million extra and sell them for 50p. You're little "collecting for money" business in flippaville is doomed to failiure ;-)

Futura, Fairey, Welker, MBW, by Feral Things on Jul 9, 2016 19:40:19 GMT 1, ....I don't want to shell out for something only to see it's value diluted by more and more released. I think the real value in this print is the perspective it provides on US militarism and the country's position in the current world order from an artist that left the first wave of graffiti to serve in the US military and then returned to be a key figure in the Golden Age of NY graffiti. That isn't affected by the number of prints produced and personally I think money just obscures the true value. Just my 2c worth.

Futura, Fairey, Welker, MBW, by Reader on Jul 9, 2016 19:49:50 GMT 1, a) Just spoke to them, they're gonna print a million extra and sell them for 50p. You're little "collecting for money" business in flippaville is doomed to failiure ;-) Your reading skills are clearly sub-par. It's on ! and apologies if I sound condescending here, but you know, this culture really isn't about you and the few quid you might gain or lose if Futura signs a few extra prints. For us, it's about bringing art out of institutions, challenging the cultural hegemony, placing work in local communities and hopefully, through workshops and education programs, inspiring others to do the same. It's a little shining light in an otherwise fucked up world. Yes, prints are part of it, and of course there are bottom feeding parasites like yourself who buy to flip, (pretty much every thread of yours is a flip), and yes, we understand this is a way to build from 50 quid prints to 500 quid prints and hopefully a few canvas down the line, who knows maybe you really do like some of the values and ethics exspoused in the work you flip but you need the extra cash. But honestly, don't "project" your own money grubbing self interest onto others who may, in fact do, have other reasons they're involved in this fascinating dynamic new movement in grass roots visual art culture.
PS : The Nuart boxset worked out at 50 quid a print, that's Sandra, Futura, Martin Whatson, Martha Cooper, Isaac Cordal, Dotdotdot, for 50 quid. Hardly a money grubbing exercise now is it hey. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
PPS : We really do value everyone who supports both the gallery and the festival for whatever reason, but if it's for any of the reasons above, we value you a little bit more.
Peace.

Jesus, if you want to write a novel send a PM. Not sure where you're getting flipping from...probably your poor reading comprehension at play there. As previously stated, I bought the set because there were 3 prints I wanted. 2 of them not listed for sale anywhere...ebay, ebeans, any gallery I could find. My only option was to buy the whole set (which included 12 prints I didn't want.) I knew I'd be able to cover the additional cost by selling the ones I don't care for. Real simple for you: Was forced to buy this to get the ones I want. Sold what I don't to cover price difference. Get off your high horse and go f*ck yourself mate. Haha, just messing mate ;-), that wasn't for you, have a top weekend David. I'm sure the gallery will be more than happy to offer you a refund. Though they're now complaining about my customer service techniques..hmmm

Well said feral. I would just add that I have a great deal of respect for Nuart and all they have given to this scene. The moment it becomes just about money, I'm out.

Futura, Fairey, Welker, MBW, by kbfrombk on Jul 10, 2016 1:46:30 GMT 1, Dealing with customers all day it definitely is a sore spot to hear another one whining about being forced to buy something... I've never had a gun to my head when checking out on a print drop; take a deep breath and analyze the veracity of the decision you're about to make, people! And hey if you're stoned and that just isn't possible that's totally fine too.
Anyone helping put this show and sale together should be appreciated for their contributions, as well as the added insight we're granted by these 'insiders ' willing to take the time to comment openly here.
Sell the prints for what you wish and when, but don't use acidic attacks to defend your decisions.
My 2ยข (can I be made a guardian now!?!)

And splitting a set a week after buying it to sell a single print to members of our community for over x 20 cost, is ? I guess if you regard everyone involved in the culture as little individual micro businesses whose sole aim is self interest and to profit as much as you can from the culture, then yes, it would be against those ethics. I can live with that.

Futura, Fairey, Welker, MBW, by smokinfish on Jul 11, 2016 0:11:02 GMT 1, What's up with hijacking someone else's for sale thread to promote your own sale. From a gallery no less.
If you wanted to sell your overrun prints and/or your remaining box sets you should of started your own thread. IMHO
not to mention your own ad states: Featuring exclusive, signed limited edition screenprints from 15 of the worlds leading names in Street and Urban Art.
Now your saying these are not limited editions?!
