SHORT TRIP TO LONDON WITH FAMILY-ADVICE PLEASE?, by Ruggs on Jul 13, 2016 13:45:24 GMT 1, Heading up to London soon with my partner and son for a couple of nights. Just wondered if anyone can give some advice of cool places to visit and eat. We're planning a day up West, art day for me which will include places around Shoreditch/Brick Lane (hoping to see the Pejac show) and a bit of shopping for my son. He loves sport, clothes etc. I guess Oxford Street/Carnaby Street. We're gonna be based at the Premier Inn, Waterloo, very close the the London Eye.

SHORT TRIP TO LONDON WITH FAMILY-ADVICE PLEASE?, by .dappy on Jul 13, 2016 15:17:34 GMT 1, South bank on an evening, literally across the river from you ... lots of different things going on in front of the Royal Festival Hall and stretching towards the london eye ... never mind the views ... which I think are more impressive from the south bank over the river (Hayward gallery is also beside the RFH)
... everyone loves the natural history museum ...

SHORT TRIP TO LONDON WITH FAMILY-ADVICE PLEASE?, by stillborncrisps on Jul 13, 2016 16:23:00 GMT 1, There was lots of ideas of things to do in this recent thread about where to stay in London:
urbanartassociation.com/thread/137081/first-time-london-where-stay
Where you're staying you're right near the Leake St tunnel, the South Bank skate spot (next to BFI) and the new wing of the Tate Modern.
A warm welcome awaits you.
Also, a bit out of town but try and go for wander round Hackney Wick and along the canal there. Tonnes of graffiti.

SHORT TRIP TO LONDON WITH FAMILY-ADVICE PLEASE?, by uncle on Jul 13, 2016 17:28:40 GMT 1, If you go the Natural History museum and there's a big queue outside, go round to the side entrance on Exhibition rd. Its usually much smaller.

SHORT TRIP TO LONDON WITH FAMILY-ADVICE PLEASE?, by Ruggs on Jul 13, 2016 20:51:04 GMT 1, South Bank for sure dappy. I know a few decent places down there. Might pop into Lazarides and the new Tate extension as well as the RFH. Sky Garden looks great. Will book a visit tonight, thanks proffesser. Meat Mission might be a goer, thanks smishdown. Thanks for all the suggestions so far. Loving the pigeon pic.

SHORT TRIP TO LONDON WITH FAMILY-ADVICE PLEASE?, by e3massive on Jul 13, 2016 22:23:42 GMT 1, Pending the weather I would walk up to the river and then head up to Vauxhall, basically left, past parliament on the south side to Tamesis dock (if I spell it might), it is a boat, moored on the south side of the river. Nice for a beverage and not too tourist rammed at all. People already mentioned the graffiti tunnel by the station, Oxford street, good luck! For East I would either go to Liverpool St, or old street and walk to Colombia road, on a Sunday, flower market there, always busy, but nelly duff is there. If you walk round more that side there is a lot of urban art and you could go into jealous shoreditch ish. South bank has a food festival which is open at the weekends, street food. The biggest 3d cinema is also in Waterloo. Tate already mentioned. Not that I live here ๐. If you need more ideas let me know.
