First Time in Prague and Vienna: Things to Do/See/Eat/Drink?, by thewral on Jul 26, 2016 17:35:19 GMT 1, Hi all,
We had lots of luck asking the forum for our trips to Paris and London earlier this year. We're continuing our travels - this time in Central Europe focusing on Prague and Vienna in mid-to-late August. We'll be spending 5/6 nights in each city. It's our first time.
What are all of your recommendations to do, see (galleries, murals, museums), eat and drink?
For Prague, we'll be staying in an airbnb in the Vinohrady neighborhood. Didn't find a lot of recommendations from prior posts.
For Vienna, we'll be in an airbnb in Neubau district. I've heard that's where there's a lot of art, restos, etc. There's a few buildings, street art areas and galleries on our radar (based on Googling and prior posts):
- Galerie Ernst Next
- Rabbit Eye Movement
- Inoperable
- Danube Canal for murals
- Beethoven Frieze
Other must sees? Eats (either types of food or restaurants)? Day trips (e.g., worth going to Bratislava for a day)?
Thanks!

Pragues premier artist will paint your portrait whilst in the restaurant. What's more the food is Michelin standard for half the price. Cannot recommend enough. Works out about £45 per couple with wine to match your dishes.

First Time in Prague and Vienna: Things to Do/See/Eat/Drink?, by Dive Jedi on Jul 16, 2020 21:04:46 GMT 1, Seemed like the best thread to add some pics. There's no "Prague Graffiti" and I don't have enough pics to start one. First building we ran into when we arrived was the "Banksy" Exhibition.
Anyway, kinda like this photo of the famous bridge.
And a rather nice Beaver Shot....

First Time in Prague and Vienna: Things to Do/See/Eat/Drink?, by quinn on Jul 16, 2020 21:12:29 GMT 1, It’s a beautiful city. I would recommend the Prague tv tower with the babies sculptures crawling on it. It’s a short tram ride and worth the visit also the Jewish cemetery is worth viewing.

Vienna is an amazing place to visit. Would recommend getting the tourist bus and going around once so you can get your bearings as it’s pretty cheap.

First Time in Prague and Vienna: Things to Do/See/Eat/Drink?, by kfroms on Jul 18, 2020 15:51:58 GMT 1, As mentioned above, go to Museums Quartier in Vienna. If short on time , focus on the Leopold Museum. The Klimt and Schiele works on show are stunning.
Have a sandwich and a beer at Trzesniewski, just off the main shopping street. An old institution which is also fairly unique. www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g190454-d714240-Reviews-Trzesniewski-Vienna.html
Go to Naschmarkt in the evening and eat a 'eitrige' Bratwurst ( its a sausage filled with cheese ) - eitrig translates to 'purulent' which is how this thing looks. Its tasty tho.
If you have the time leave Vienna and go for an 'Heurigen' www.wien.info/en/shopping-wining-dining/wine/heurige-2

Its the gallery where Jan Kalab is having his shows. And many other Czech artists worth to mention. I strongly recommend the gallery for a book shoping, as Czechs are great at making good books. Meet Factory is a next step, you can cross Miko Skapa spot there, another great guy and a close friend of Jan Kalab.
