A lot here should admit that there is not only Banksy ( and on the rebound, each artist That he promotes or helps as Brainwash , Dismaland guests, etc ...,
He is not the manager of street-art, " the " or " a"' reference of course and we must consider other Street-artists as Banksy has considered graffiti and painting artists.

Just so you know I have not lost my marbles. I LOVE flying copper, it is a vastly undervalued classic banksy. And though many were produced, how many survive is a another matter...
All that said my wife doesn't like it as much and is gently nudging for a change. Simples.

All ready good points. My approach to art is as more emotional and aesthetic than it is financial. I buy shares but see that as the a " purely rational pursuit of gain". I'm not looking to give money away and would assume most trade might need some "balancing" of sorts. At the end of the day I love Flying Copper, the wife and the kids LOVE STIK. So as a family we will get more "out of" a Stik, maybe that could be seen as better value or use of funds?

I'm just making up numbers here.ย Of course, the logical course is to sell the FC, get market value ($8K, whatever it is), make an offer on a Stik and maybe have cash left over at the end of the day. However, in this case, the OP clearly does not care as much about the market value for his FC, and just wants to trade for a Stik. If this still doesn't make sense, I'm probably just from Mars. All ready good points. My approach to art is as more emotional and aesthetic than it is financial. I buy shares but see that as the a " purely rational pursuit of gain". I'm not looking to give money away and would assume most trade might need some "balancing" of sorts. At the end of the day I love Flying Copper, the wife and the kids LOVE STIK. So as a family we will get more "out of" a Stik, maybe that could be seen as better value or use of funds? Well said and back to the point at hand rather than all the nasty vitriol above!! |

The prices offered have been fair and generous however I am hoping to use the piece as bait to wrangle a lovers out of the woodwork so I am not going for a straight sale just yet. Also like I say I would want to risk losing the "re-entry visa"granted by the art police when a piece leaves the house. The sale would create "funds" which in turn creates "things we need" a category within which art seldom features.....
