Framing Miss Bugs "Waiting for Ed", by cyochens on Aug 29, 2016 2:47:12 GMT 1, My framer is telling me this print is too large/heavy to float. Does anyone have any recommendations on best way to frame these?
I have a simple black frame they've already made for it. Suggestions, pictures?

What makes it too heavy?

Does anyone have any recommendations on best way to frame these? I have a simple black frame they've already made for it. Suggestions, pictures? No reason that size can't be float mounted. What makes it too heavy? Framer is telling me the print will be too heavy for the tape she uses to hold. This is part of my concern also. She possibly doesn't have the experience to float a larger print. Isn't there a technique called a T-something to handle a heavier print? I have my framing done at Hobby Lobby, because it's reasonably priced. I've never had any issues before this.

It's a double sided tape that will damage a print when removed.

Framing Miss Bugs "Waiting for Ed", by Deleted on Aug 29, 2016 13:29:14 GMT 1, To reiterate Otto,
Find a real framer. Never go discount framing on a piece that has any value to you. Find a reputable framer to take care of your piece. Good framing is usually not cheap but more times than not keeps your work from being ruined.

Framing Miss Bugs "Waiting for Ed", by cyochens on Sept 1, 2016 21:10:43 GMT 1, When they call and left me a voicemail saying they could not float it, I left them on hold while I did some research. Got a call today, saying they just went ahead and matted it. Not too happy about them moving ahead without my permission, but it does look good.
I had a conversation with them regarding the adhesive that they use. They said they do not use the "APV" that you mention. They use a white tape called "Framers Tape II? Stock #CW-2000. She said if that is heated, it comes right off, if necessary. Sort of a done deal now, but curious if anyone has experience with that adhesive?

Framing Miss Bugs "Waiting for Ed", by Howard Johnson on Sept 1, 2016 21:56:08 GMT 1, That's insane they would move forward without your permission. If your happy with the piece then maybe it's no big deal, but I would at least inquire about a partial refund or store credit. I'm not familer with that adhesive, but more likely then not any reputable conservationist will be able to remove it, a cost of which you should not be liable for.

Framing Miss Bugs "Waiting for Ed", by thisisit on Sept 1, 2016 22:08:03 GMT 1, I think it looks great and you should be happy with it.
But i do find it very unprofessional and upsetting that they went ahead without your consent. I would definitely not leave the matter there if i where you.
framing is something very particular. and should be handled with a lot of thought.
