According to a normally reasonable and reliable source (that will not be named), Banksyโs flags contain a little selfie element of the main man:
The only non-kiddo in the image... he surely looks like (or not?) one of the persons often mentioned in this discussion... staring at us from one of his most quintessential political Banksy work... and his largest release ever... definitively something that would fit the character.

Its not graf or a crew they've taken a pure form/and a loop hole where you can sign friends names freely as a "shout out" and used that to sell it down the river. That matters.
Why do OBEY and Banksy choose to lie to create a marketable brand? Because they can sell more and create more interest this to me is in complete contrast to fine art I want on my wall otherwise Id be hanging photos of the M from McDonalds and the Nike swoosh. People need to step out from behind brands more these days. Id much rather buy the artwork of a guy/girl who has the real skill to apply a piece to a wall and see what he or she can do solo not what they are being paid to do.

Some, now gone or painting under their own artistโs name, are all bound to professional secrecy with drastic contracts. Banksy is a brand, not more. Official and unofficial PR run it.
