Documenting Your Collection, by retrome on Sept 7, 2016 11:03:44 GMT 1, I'm doing some research into how people manage their collections, and am interesting in learning what some of you on here do.
For obvious reasons it is essential to keep an up to date inventory of your collection with pictures and current values etc... But how do you store that information?
Do you use Excel, Google Sheets or something a bit more niche?
I have been using Evernote - evernote.com for a couple of years, it is really useful as I can add pictures, receipts and make tables of information all in the same document and then link that together with other items I have.
I've seen other SAAS (Software as a Service) solutions such as Collectrium - www.collectrium.com which are for the bigger collectors, but they can get expensive.

Nothing too advanced for me I'm afraid. Just use Excel to list what I bought and what I paid and then update it every now and again to keep it up to date. Started to try and add a few sold values on pieces that I have where there does seem to have been an increase in value but basically mines just a list of where my savings have gone!!

Documenting Your Collection, by londonfx on Sept 7, 2016 13:03:08 GMT 1, I try to use Expressobeans. You can add pieces to your collection and download it as a PDF. The PDF doesn't document any values, just the images.
Obviously its aimed more towards film stuff, so not all "urban art" will be on there. But anyone can add an item and description about it to the database.
I'm also pretty anal and have a spreadsheet. Which documents everything about the piece.
Date purchased, purchase amount, sellers name etc...
Lastly. I haven't done this yet. But I'm tempted to. I thought it would be quite cool to print out all the pieces I have in postcard size and keep a little album.
Just something small and compact to show people. And remind me of the stuff I have. So I don't have to drag out the bloody portfolio or plan chest draws every time. Lol
