Framing two different sized prints side by side., by marlon on Sept 22, 2016 21:17:34 GMT 1, Im about to buy frames for two Jeremy Geddes prints that i plan too hang side by side.
The prints are the same height, 58 cm, but one print is 35 cm wide and the other is 48 cm. I want white passepartout in both frames.
Would you use frames that are the same size, and have one print with alot more passepartout, or have one frame that is abit wider than the other, but then have about the same amount of passepartout?

Framing two different sized prints side by side., by Howard Johnson on Sept 22, 2016 22:36:17 GMT 1, Personally, I wouldn't fret about having them exactly the same size. The difference when they are framed side by side will be negligible, but if you try to mess with the mat measurements or jam a print into a frame thats to small or large it will be noticeably distracting. Frame them to match the specifications of each print and hang them at least 2' apart, and you won't know the difference.

Framing two different sized prints side by side., by iamzero on Sept 23, 2016 8:03:01 GMT 1, Agreed. Frame each print to the size of the print. What if you decide on a reshuffle and no longer sit side by side... you'll regret it.

Framing two different sized prints side by side., by marlon on Sept 23, 2016 8:31:06 GMT 1, Makes sense!
What frame size would you recommend?
1: W35 X H55cm (paper W40cm X H61cm)
2: W48 X H55cm (paper size 53cm x 61cm)
Makes sense!

Eye of the beholder mate! If you mat them, I believe industry standard is to have the mat size at least 1.5x the size of the frame molding. i.e. if the frame molding is 2", make the mat at least 3" on all sides.
