Art market goes bonkers, by andrewd on May 25, 2007 19:38:31 GMT 1, Some amazing pieces there, I went to have a look at them as they were on show in Sotheby's London a few weeks before the sale. It was amazing to see a Warhol Soup Can canvas, the Rothko, which looked like a huge piece of delicious cake! The Rothkos in the Tate look really moody and dark ( I like them ) but this was a enormous shimmering dream of colour. Also rated the Peter Doig, the Basquait and the Pollocks.
I was also rather distracted by an extremely beautiful woman security guard standing by the Warhol! It wasn't just me who noticed her as a wealthy older woman went up to her and said 'Darling, you look beautiful', to which the security guard replied blushing, 'well thank you, you're supposed to be looking at the art!'
Which I suppose is right!
